oh also thanks @bedlam for repairing me as well.

that whole deal, I have no idea what happened.

I knew that melding was a healer, and that he needed to heal herself. Bedlam approached me as an engineer, who I was going to use to fix @I needed a name to post., but first, he needed to repair me, as I was totally going to die that night. But Bedlam was also hurt, so I brokered a deal with melding to get a shield, who would in turn heal bedlam, who would in turn heal me.

but melding still died! I don't know what happened.

edit: And then, I was still almost dead the next day, but I needed to get INANTP repaired, so I found Taya who could science him. But then he got exploded :(

Yeah, you can "balance" things all you want, but, assuming you did not royally fuck up a mechanic somewhere, it all comes down to the players.

Balance is about fairness, not outcomes.

Last minute victory does not indicate balance.

Landslide victory does not indicate imbalance.

The mechanics decide what is balanced or not, because what players do is outside of balance, if you look at the history of all games ever.

If I ever make another one, you're the only vanilla. and you'll seer mafia. and die to seering. and lose if you die on day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7.

Also, there have been like 2 balanced mains/minis in the last 2 months, so I don't feel too bad. Anytime you go much away from a vanilla system, it's much more on the players than the abilities (although some hilarious things can happen ofc). If it's pretty vanilla, it's usually very "fair", but even bad players play pretty well in vanilla, so...

Well that was just terrible, great game though, thanks edcrab!

In hindsight I should have tried roleblocking Langly's team and kept urging cythraul to heal him, it was a stupid decision.

@Bedlam I put my list together before the vote closed and forgot to take your name out. I just decided to run with it when it was pointed out. :P

I also made the great play of revealing my full role to Wiet. I forget why now. Go me!

Sorry about not being around much day 1 and 2, but to be fair I voted for Wiet day 1.

The teams after Kywchen and Rend were pretty tough compared to their targets. Despite them basically all working with the mafia the village had a real chance of winning this so, meh.

One thing I did not see, did the targets of the kill teams know they were being hunted and who was doing it?

I tried a different tact with the Repair abilities this time, letting them enhance rather than unlock. (For example, the Doctor roles healed 5, got a 50% boost to 8 if their equipment was repaired). It was a way of increasing village power without leaving said roles completely and utterly helpless; 6 Special damage is a boon, yes, but 6 normal damage is still better than the majority of the roles out there! In practise, all those greedy robots hogged the Repairs; but I'd attempted to balance things with default powers in mind, so hopefully a repaired role was a marked improvement rather than the norm and that not getting many of them was a nuisance rather than a crippling weakness.

I think my mistake (well, one of them) this time around was making the stronger roles so reliant on SCIENCE!. Murderbot in particular stood very little chance without his SCIENCE! upgrade, and balancing a role around a possible outcome is a very poor approach to take. I really should've stuck to the old Murderbot VC of "make a daily kill or harm yourself".

Anyway, thanks to @Rend for supplying narrations! Most of what the Renegade said actually came from him.

And since people are always so curious about power rankings, by which I mean I got a lot of stuff in my inbox asking "hey who's strongest":
Rogue Mech (Life 20, Armour 5, Resistance 15, Attack 5/10[15 w/ SCIENCE!] - Immune to psionic damage like other mechs, which I'd argue sees more use than Breach-immunity

    Kwychen/Rend [Awakened + SCIENCE!] (Life 18, Armour 6, Psi Defence 6, Resistance 15, Attack 10) - Immune to Breach/Telekinetic Break

Paragon Mech [final] (Life 18, Armour 4, Resistance 12, Attack 8) - Dealt +5 damage to targets he'd Analysed, Sacrifice ability on death

Paleon Guardian (Life 20, Resistance 15, Attack 5) - Also increased allies' armour

Cyborg (Life 12, Armour 4, Attack 5/8/10/16) - Attack power could be doubled at cost of armour, base attack increased to 8 when at half Life or below

Detective (Life 10, Attack 2, Psi Defence 6) - Noteworthy for having the highest starting Psi Defence in the game; Cythraul survived a 15-damage Cultist attack because of it

The Cultist Armada's group "kills", for comparison, dealt 12 damage (15 when there were only two mafia remaining). The top three roles were thus the only ones in the game that could tank having both default mafia attacks on their person.

I'll talk a bit about the final narration in a little while!
