    agreed. screwing people who actually want to go just to make a few extra dollars is very wrong.

    I bought a badge, even though I will probably get a speaker badge as usual. There is a chance I might need it if my panels are not accepted, though. Also, I wanted a chance to enter the Omegathon, which I can't do with a speaker badge. If I don't need the badge, I plan to give it to a close friend or give it away in a contest.

    Still, someone out there was denied a badge because of me, and I feel a little bad about it.

    that isn't as bad IMO, you actually have the intention of going. and if you get a speaker badge then someone else will get to go. it doesn't sound/look like you are trying to make a profit off anyone from it.
