hemsworth is so great in this movie

like loki obviously sort of steals the show as a character but

hemsworth is such a great thor

Trying to burn time until showtime. Still got about three hours. Think I might just go take a short nap in the shower. Or invent time travel.

Agreed. The cast was fantastic, as well. Not a single weak link. Who would have thought the guy who played Punisher in War Zone would be an excellent Volstagg? Jamie Alexander's Sif was another brilliant addition. I hope she gets more screen time in the sequel.

i wouldn't blame that on casting so much as... maybe the writing of her character

i mean natalie portman is a good actress, so it's either we blame the writing or she just phoned it in

    both are reasonable to think

    I'm gonna go with writing

Portman is a fine actress, and also the Jane Foster in the movie is pretty different from her comics counterpart as far as I recall

for example in the comics, she's a paramedic, not an astrophysicist. those are two very different jobs that require very different personalities

I guess what I'm saying is that the writers made a completely new character that didn't already have a template for how she would fit into a Thor story like a paramedic Jane Foster would have

Should have cut out Portman's character and just had the bromance with Stellan Skaarrsgaaard

Yeah the romance in Thor was written really bad in general and keeps the movie from being on an Iron Man 1 level.

they are complaining in D&D about the fact that Cap wears a mask

one dude is even wondering why he wears a costume

    I mean, really?

    Because he is a CAPTAIN

it's right there in his name

You don't see Captain Crunch hocking cereal in a polo and a pair of chinos.

It happens sometimes. Betty Ross was unrecognizable in Millar's Ultimates, though Thor's Foster is closer to her 616 counter-part than that Ross. It didn't bother me. They got a great actress for the part and the character is an interesting take on Jane Foster.

    honestly on one hand

the parts of earth are an obvious flaw in thor as a movie

but at the same time i could watch a whole movie of thor just hanging out with jane foster and getting drunk with the old dude

don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was necessarily a bad move making her an astrophysicist. I'm just saying that since it is a completely new take on the character, there's no way for anyone to tell how well it works with the other parts of the story until its there on the screen. It's hit-or-miss because it's new

    I enjoyed Thor

But it was missing a good half an hour or so of character development.

Thor just inexplicably changed from a jerk to a patient, understanding nice guy overnight.

honestly, all Thor needed was a five minute montage showing Thor doing fish out of water stuff and then a title that said THREE WEEKS LATER

it really would have fixed so much about the plot

    he's just too charming
the scene of him trying to lift his hammer, then the news of his father "dying" and all of that are plenty to make us believe that he's changed his ways

it's just that even before those things happen, we're totally on his side just like we were with tony stark

the second he smiles we love him

She was an unexpected joy to watch. Prior to seeing the film I heard many people and critics hate the character, yet I found her gorgeous, funny and relatable.
