im so confused, do men usually act like pricks to their friends' girlfriends because ive never seen this before
Mako never thought that Korra was Bolin's girlfriend. He assumed she was one of his crazy fangirls that Bolin regularly bangs and then drops like a sack of komodopotatoes.
He knows Bolin likes her though, and at the very least you don't hit on/be overly affectionate to the girl your brother is crushing on
But it seems like he's swung too far back the other way and is being a jerk, which according to middle school theory, means he likes her a lot but can't show it
I think this sums it up pretty well. Personally, I quite like what they are doing with the romantic elements of the show; first episode in it seems like they are setting up Korra and Mako. That last scene, duh. And somehow 'two leads starting off not liking each other who end up together' has become a fairly common romantic trope, so I'm not surprised people picked up on it. Funny how the overt interest on Bolin's behalf is seen as too obvious to actually mean anything. Does Korra like Mako? He's dreamy, so yeah I think she's probably groovin' on him, at least a bit. If Mako stays with Asami, I think it is perfectly sensible. She's a hot rich girl. And she likes him. And maybe Korra is gonna have to deal with it while the show develops the Mako/Asami relationship, that could be interesting too.
predictions: I liked that person's theory about Asami secretly being an adrenaline junkie. She's the heiress to the city's richest industrialist's empire, she's probably stifled with keeping up appearances on her father's behalf. Her having this crazy sort of side to herself sounds reasonable and entertaining.
Prediction 2: Asami will try to befriend Korra and of course Korra will be terrible about it. Asami will either not notice or maybe assumes Korra doesn't like her because she's not a bender. They end up bonding over some sort of dangerous activity, maybe she somehow rescues Korra and the brothers?
