Oh yeah, I also played the game on the lowest or next lowest difficulty. That probably helped. I'm not very hardcore, so I usually go for the lower difficulties. And I never tried to get Silent Assassin.
But like I said, one of my first games, and my first Hitman. I liked the parts that weren't military bases where everyone shoots you if you look at them funny - the embassy, the Italian villa, the Malaysian office lobby. But I think it's possible that I liked the idea of being a hitman so much I overlooked some of all the bullshit bad design and game-breaking bugs. And I might never have completed the last level.
In short, a combination of an under-developed taste, and rose-colored glasses. I''d never claim it was a good game, it's just I used to think your criticism was excessive. Not anymore.
PS. also I sometimes accidentally overstate what I mean because foreign languages are hard.
