Oh yeah that Louis CK bit is fucking awesome. Whenever I hear someone use those words my mind always flips back to that scene and I frown. And then I wish I could just link them to it in person.

Also the whole part at the end about
I talk about gay sex more with YOU guys than with any of my gay friends.
But yeah, Louis CK overall is phenomenal.

So, how many religious/spiritual people have you met that haven't given you crap for your sexual orientation?
You've met me.
I don't wear a cross around my neck because I love right angles.
I'd be pretty surprised if I met anyone here who I met and genuinely gave me grief about it.
Mostly because I've been posting here for so goddamn long, if you don't somehow know... well, then it's more of a miracle you're able to feed yourself.

I actually can't recall having any issues from religious people, and I have plenty of religious friends. And some very very religious family members. (For example, I've heard via my mom that my grandmother has ranted about the evils of homosexuality, but never to me, and I think she must know by now even though we've never talked about it. We're friends on facebook, for one thing..)

I was kinda pointing out how silly RMED's statement was.
I worked as a camp counselor for an episocpal camp. I lived at a church for four years.
And I've slept on Neville's couch.

have you SEEN famous webcomic forumer toji suzuhara?
also wait what
theres a UK queer as folk? Is it good enough that I should hunt it down?
Yeah @Kochikens the UK version is the original, created by Russell T. Davies who based it on his experiences with the gay club scene and it's also scored by Murray Gold, the composer for Doctor Who.
I think my dad used to be anti gay marriage but when I talked to him about it recently he was saying that they should totally be allowed to get married and it's dumb that they aren't.

I'm always bummed that my mum is very open-minded and has nothing against homosexuality or the like, but still thinks same sex marriage "isn't right."
Luckily she knows to keep it to herself and not interfere, which is good news for my stepsister who recently got engaged with her girlfriend earlier this year

My immediate family are episcopal, which is generally very supportive; gay/lesbian clergy exist and are embraced.
My extended family do NOT know and would likely NOT be supportive.
But most of them are from Texas and Virginia and lots of them tend to be rednecks, so.
Also one of my aunts had a gay husband (he realized it after they were married and they divorced). He died of cancer before I was born.
And she turned the family against him. The same aunt tried to out me to my brother and sister to get back at my mom for something years ago.
I still have to be reminded by my mom to be nice to her; I think she's sleaze and have zero respect for her.

Do you know what I honestly don't get.
When I was younger and dumber I had some pretty closed minded assumptions.
As I got older I just stopped caring who other people kissed and what not. I can't see how older old people didn't do this also.

Eh. My parents are both episcopal and are in the "Gays should have all the same civil rights as straight people, but don't call it marriage please" camp.
It's a start.
But I know of plenty of Episcopal priests, youth counselors, and just plain members who are gay or bi or whatever.

whoa seriously?
fucking watching this
It is definitely good, but it was like 1 season, the US is 5 seasons and gets to go much deeper into issues and the various characters' lives.
I have a gay uncle who was estranged from the family for a very long time, not because he was gay but because of something that happened with my grandfather's business. I'm not sure about the details. I met him for the first time when I was 17 and it turns out he's just as hilarious as the rest of my dad's brothers and sisters.
I'll watch the UK one first, then the US one, Nevs. I need more programming to watch. I've been watching TLC and I don't think I can handle it much longer
I got a pretty horrible piece of political advertising in the mail last week.
Just an A4 sheet covered in people talking about how gay marriage is terrible and must not be allowed, and I read it in disbelief, waiting for the punchline.
It made me so angry and upset that people like that actually exist in my country, that on some twisted level they truly believe that they're doing a good thing by persecuting others, and that I just don't know how to explain to them that they're wrong, they're just wrong on every conceivable level.
It's as baffling to me as if someone patiently and calmly explained to me that England is, in fact, to the North of Scotland, and we need to ban maps that show anything else.
If someone could find me that video of one politician, I think, supporting adoption, and marriage in general, for same sex couples that would be super.

i'm just
i'm just gonna copypaste a thing about my dad
So my dad thinks I shouldn't change my body and that I want to be female just to not be like him and that he went through doubt about male identity too, growing his hair out and hating his own facial and body hair when he was my age and that kissing a girl made him change his mind and that gender identity and sexual orientation are linked and that my lack of experience with women means I can't truly know what I want and to put my faith in the lord and my body is a temple and I don't have the right to change what god gave me and this is just a mental battle with my own demons and that the literal devil is forcing evil men in Iran to try to destroy the world and they're succeeding and that I shouldn't miss out on having the joy of children
Also when he was getting cancer treatment and he had a negative reaction to meds and couldn't breathe, his dad's soul came into him and took control and helped him breathe

That is pretty shitty.
There was an article I read about someone trying to take out ads on the side of buses in London that was anti-gay.
And the mayor shot it the fuck down.

I think you're a bear because of the whole bear thing.
Dunno if you're attracted to lady bears or dude bears, though.
I'd just like to point out that catholics, on an individual level, are statistically the most liberal religious people
it's mostly just the church leadership that is a bunch of assholes

I think after the third time I just interrupted him with a rather definitive no he shut up.

Because there's a very specific and limited set of holes which God ordained to be penetrated, that's why
I'm wasting my awesome parents
some lgbtqi person with a shitty family should adopt them
insecurities about philosophy/identity/sexuality
I'm still betting the "choicers" are almost certainly all bi
