He also said they're doodles. We have a thread for those and people are welcome to provide feedback in that thread too.

True, but a new user is also much more likely to get overlooked in there. That's up to you, but I just don't want it to seem like new people aren't welcome. My art probably wasn't much better when I first started posting.

It's not about the quality of the art. He said they're doodles. We have a doodle thread. They didn't look like finished pieces at all to me. They looked like doodles. If you are concerned about him getting overlooked in there then I would suggest going into the doodle thread and commenting on his piece. He did repost one of them in the doodle thread.

I'm not going to set an example that allows every new user to post their very own doodle thread just because they're new. One of our rules is to lurk and learn how things work before posting.

I just read through FLCL for the first time. I havent watched the series yet, and I'm slightly confused--
I get that it's about puberty and growing up and all that, and how obviously the horns that grow on Naoto's head are basically erections/indicators of stress & embarrassment. But what's with the cats at the end? I'm not clear on what they're supposed to represent, or even what exactly it is the robots are specifically meant to symbolize.

    Talk about a strange series

Feeling confused because of FLCL is totally normal.

Of course I only watched the series, and only one time.

The comic is even more baffling than the series is, and the series is probably best known for its extreme level of bafflement. (I can't answer the questions in the spoiler because I really don't know.)

But the series has the advantage of just being able to bring more energy to the proceedings than the comic can, so the fact that very little of it makes sense feels more forgivable.

Guh I can't take any more of these stories of frustratingly clueless people.

Bebarce, tell the story about the alien again. That guy was endearingly clueless.

How about some other Public Library observations?
(I posted these on facebook while i was witnessing them at the time)

"The fat guy next to me giggles too much. He Google image searches "japeneze people" and then spends 20 minutes giggling to himself before searching for the next thing. He started typing japenese school girls and I thought "ah I see where he's going now" but then he finished typing "and boys" then spent another 20 minutes giggling at fully clothed school children at play or studying."

"The lady to my left looks like an 80 year old white woman yet for the past hour all she's done is search videos of the Spanish Club Scene."

"A hasidic Jewish young couple have been painfully attempting to hide the fact that they're sneaking peaks at interacial porn. Oddly enough they might be brother and sister"

"Excuse me sir. Is that new new scent by Axe you're wearing? Ballsweat and curry?"

It's Friday! Blue skies and it's the end of the week. Next weekend is a long one and then I fly home for a bit where I'll get to sail in the first race of the Bermuda Fitted Dinghy season. Then my wife and dog finally move up to Toronto with me.

grif did you end up going to tcaf

  • GrifterGrifter BermudaModerator mod
No, I wound up not making it over to TCAF. I spoke with Firman who said that he made it over there. I just didn't have money over the weekend so didn't want to go there and be tempted to spend money on things that I don't need.

I have become so snob and mean when it comes to evaluating entretainment content, like movies, or music, that I almost find no pleasure on watching or hearing stuff that I can understand and tear apart.

So Im curious, what is this thing you guys are talking about that is so weird? sounds like something I might like, specially if its in the animation cathegory.

Yes, with a quick verbal "boom." You take a man's peko, you deny him his dab, all that is left is to rise up and tear down the walls of Jericho with a ".....not!" -TexiKen

I wonder if the people on my Facebook who like to post a photo of essentially every damn meal they eat would pick up on the passive-aggressive sarcasm if I were to post a picture, every night, of what I was having for dinner: which is, 95% of the time, the exact same goddamn thing.

I think we both know the unfortunate answer to that little query...

I have a few friends that do this. One in particular thinks very highly of her cooking and "healthy" new eating habits (because cooking at home automatically means healthier) but she always smothers and drowns everything in sauce, making it look really unappealing. I find it kind of humorous and always comment on it but she apparently hasn't caught on yet.

Also, what is it you eat every night and how do you not get tired of it?

Hrm, you're probably right. Especially because the main offender literally has like 900 fb friends, so my efforts would likely be drowned out by hundreds and hundreds of pictures of other people's food.

Maybe if I took posted a picture of every cup of water I drank, but I'd rather not deeply irritate all the other people I know who do not think that the world actually cares about every single atom that makes its way into their face.

@MD: next time they do that, just post a picture of a bowl topped to the brim with spaghetti sauce (preferably a clear bowl, so it doesn't look like you're hiding anything), with one, single spaghetti noodle resting on top.

It's so rare that I show my ugly mug 'round these parts. How come whenever I do, this place seems like a fucking ghost town? Is attendance just plain low these days, or what?? >=\
