It looks closer to GTA or Assassin's Creed in terms of having scripted moments interspersed with chunks of open-ended gameplay.
yeah i could see this
i dunno it just seems to be the big thing these days to see a really incredible gaming sequence and just get all cynical and "eh i bet it's heavily scripted"

Oh yeah, I'm with you. Even a game that's basically an interactive movie like Asura's Wrath appeals to me, but I absolutely understand why that might not be everyone's cup of tea.
It does bug me a lot though. Scripting isn't a bad thing unless it's overly transparent to the player; the fact is if a cool moment happens in a game that's not entirely emergent, then it was scripted. This is true of a lot of great sequences in some fine games that nonetheless don't get any flak for it. What matters is player agency, which is pretty much impossible to judge until you've played the game, or seen it played multiple times.

Come on game, what you thinking?
Edit: wait, which game we talking here?
If we talking Watch_Dogs, I will run through all the scripts. I won't even care.
Other times linear situations are fun.
Satans..... hints.....

I edited my post to fix my lack of reading the last page.
