Ya. The novice driving thing is a little extreme now. I like how you have to have it for 2 years now after having your Learners for a year. Meaning unless its family you can't have more than one person in your car until your 19 at the earliest. Since thats the drinking age, I assume msot people dont' take their tests right then. I have 2 firend's who had the Old N and renewed. That was the worst, when they made people who drove under old N rules(just display sign and no drinking) convert over.

Anyways the worst part about it is when they are trying to be a designated driver and end up with a 100+ dollar ticket for driving 3-4 drunk people home. Way to encourage drunk driving BC!!!!!

I marginally agree with the one passenger rule for high school students, but I think by 18 people should get the idea not to drive like a retard.

I've got a huge stack of updating to do. Expect all the new group information to be updated with passenger rosters, and that Western Route to be more detailed by the end of the weekend. I've been working on my hardcopy information, so I'll get that all fired in and updated.

and yeah, our driving regulations here in BC are a total joke.

OH hey as far as zyzzyvas and my group goes our group of 3 from victoria is going the anacortes ferry route now, since the small increase in price both ways, will be offset by the savings in time and gas. That and I haven't gone that way so it'll be cool to check it out. I'm pretty sure we are full since we have one car and we are all byoc.

Anacortes is a pretty awesome place, I went there for a medical thing once. It's an enjoyable stop.

I got the group information updated, so if there's information missing-- I REALLY NEED IT!

The specifics on the Western branch schedule shouldn't be much longer, so I'll throw them in soon.

We need to figure out meeting sites for the remaining undecided waypoints.
    Edmonton Start
    Red Deer
    Calgary
    Revelstoke
    Merritt
    Mt. Vernon

I'll ask someone about a site for Mt. Vernon, and get the new map pieces put together when I've got that location.

Regardless of which car we chose to drive, we will have at least 2 extra seats. but seeing as how both of us have our Ns, we can only transport eachother across the border. Once we pass the border, i believe we will be okay to have more passengers, so if anyone is in a real pickle and can get to the other side of the border, they may attach themselves to our vehicle like some sort of parasite.

I actually decided that job wasn't worth having, so I quit. With my new employment I'm off for the entire PAX week, meaning I'm in. Have we decided on whether we are taking the BC Ferries for the WA ferry for us islanders? Unfortunately I can't take anyone in my veichle but I'd be down with meeting on the ferry and hanging out.

Well, only one group so far has confirmed they'll be on the Sidney-Anacortes route. I haven't heard back from anyone else yet, but I've generally left all three options open in the Q&A section. It costs a bit more for that ferry, but it saves a couple of hours on your departure time, and reduces your gas costs by a fair chunk.

We only have the three groups who've shown interest from the Island, so it would be awesome to get all three on the same boat. It would also be nice to get transportation lined up for the other few people, but we'll have to see how that develops.

edit: I hate jobs that aren't worth having, full credit to you on changing your situation smes!

It saves so much time, it's totally the best route in my opinion.

The best part just might be the "not having to wait at the border" deal you've got going on with that route.

I think it's a shorter boat ride and runs a bit cheaper, with about the same road distance once you're back on land. This is another boat I didn't know about, since I'm not from the Island!

    Coho (Victoria-Port Townsend): http://www.cohoferry.com/index.htm
    WSF: (Sidney-Anacortes): http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedules/current/index.cfm?route=ana-sid

edit: it's the WSF sailing from Sidney terminal @ 1120. I think placing a reservation might be a pretty good idea too, just to make sure nobody misses the boat.

Hey b0wser with GeeCee's realization I guess that means you have to move me back to the "needs a ride" section for the Vancouver waypoint. I'm already booked off work and booked into the Sheraton for Thursday night so I'm still hoping on heading down with the CST, even if I have to hitchhike..... *sticks out thumb*

Is there anyone heading from the Vancouver waypoint that still has room available?

    **edit**

Scratch that I have a ride again.... it looks like GeeCee is going to "call in dead" at work so he's leaving with the CST. Thanks de4dmeta1, your negative influence has been of great benefit. Not only do I have a ride, but b0wser doesn't need to edit the "drivers and passengers" section with our previous cancellation now.

Fraser and Katrina Cain from Burnaby, BC need rides and can meet downtown or wherever along the way of someone who is going south. Katrina's email is katrina.cain@gmail.com and Fraser's email is frasercain@gmail.com

We are delightful company and Katrina, being a former tourguide can regale you all with useless factoids about BC, Vancouver and Canada. Oh yeah, and we are both enforcers.

Oooo useless factoids. I might hit you up for some of those while we are waiting at the waypoint. I just moved to Vancouver in September (from the east coast) and all I've picked up about the history of Vancouver is that is was founded by scoundrels, unscrupulous entrepreneurs and some guy named Jack with a flatulence problem.

I'm also trying to find a ride from the Vancouver waypoint and I believe there are a couple more of us rideless canucks at that waypoint still.

I was hoping the "call in dead" excuse would work, so I gave it some time.

The work I need to finish, still isn't done. I blame my brain being suddenly melted by 38/108 degree heat, it's like there's fire sprites dancing on my arse.

I've just asked Buraisu if he knows of a good waypoint location for Mt. Vernon, and I'll be talking to people about Red Deer and Merritt in the next couple of days.

We plan on just walking from my house to the ferry and off again. Got some room booked at a hostel a few blocks from the PAX centre. Send me an email if you wanna come along! popoff[at]gmail.com

Upon further reflection, while convienant for us, it seems the clipper is a tad pricy compared to gas in a vehicle. Anyone have room in their vehicle for 2 cool dudes?

I just PMed b0wser with the best waypoint for Mount Vernon (Well really, it's Burlington because Mount Vernon is past the river). D:

This exit, this very special exit has Gamestop, EB Games, Subway, Apple Teriyaki which is the best Asian food in Skagit County (I know), Taco Del Mar, Bestbuy and some other stores all in walking distance of the Park and Ride parking lot which is a great spot to park a lot of cars. O_o

Oh and their is a Sports Bar a block north of the parking lot and a couple Gas Stations. A mall with another Gamestop, Target and Gamecrazy one exit north and Wallmart south one exit with a lot of places to eat a good meal.

Oh and it's the George Hopper Rd Exit. After the Route 20 exit heading south and before the College Way Exit. Route 20 is the highway from Anacortes so the ferry goers will be coming from there.

Note: People coming from the Anacortes Ferry, their is extremely cheap gas fuel at the Indian resrvation casio gas station on your way out of Anacortes. It's past all the car dealerships before the big bridge off the island. You turn right before the bridge and go under the bridge. It's about $.50 cheaper per gal then most gas stations in Washington soooooo fuel up to max. They also have cheap cigs if your into that sort of thing and maybe even cheap booze. During rush hour, their are long lines.

The casino is called Swinomish Northern Lights Casino, 12885 Casino Dr, Anacortes, WA.
