The game is very challenging no doubt about that, but I don't recall ever thinking it was cheap. I gotta say that it is done quite well, it is brutal but challenging! Absolutely fantastic game, much better than the original DKC I reckon.

I've since heard that World 2 is a bit more brutal than the stuff that comes after it, so I'll probably get back to it before long to see if that's true.
Unless something really wows me, though, I think the controls are going to keep me from giving it the nod over DKC.
