All are mandated to give up at least 3 years of their life for military service for the Union, but realistically the guard is never called upon for combat unless a great war breaks out. Instead, they go through their training, serve their time lending a hand on some official duty and attempt to hold the peace. They are not prepared to fight the terrors of the dark, and may value their own lives over the success of the mission.
No body else said they were going to charge forward with us, BB and I thought it was safer to back up b/c we had shambling zombies to the fore and burning zombies to starboard of us. The other group only had zeds to one side of them. The way the zeds had been moving up to that point also made us think they'd be pushing on top of us, but they instead doubled back into command and held position in front of us.
I'm all for charging back forward and backing up the Cap if the other group is going to be pushing forward into C3 at the same time.

Probably. Once people realized that voting another villager out for not much reason was a bad idea, having a counterwagon makes a lot of sense.
