Going to work on my sleeves and some detailing for my Courtesan today. Need to get some bracers and leather gloves still...promise pictures will be here soon!
construction has finally begun on my femshep dress. It is surprisingly easier than I thought it would be. Can't wait to show some progress pics to you guys.
- Biting's excellent! It's like kissing. Only there's a winner.

Anybody dressing up as characters from Killing Floor? I'll be goin' in as a female Mr. Foster! So I guess that's... Ms. Foster?
That, and Taokaka from the BlazBlue games.
A Killing Floor costume sounds like it would be a blast. I just bought the game on the summer Steam sale, so I'll have to take a look at the skins to see if there are any interesting ones beyond the standard guy in camo. A Ringmaster Patriarch would be awesome too, but it seems like it would take a lot of time to put together.

Looking forward to seeing it! The one from Stolen Memory, right?
Yes, it is. I have no hand at making armor, so I've picked something still recognizable, but different from the norm.
End of day2 progress. The back and sides still need to be sewn, the zipper and collar added and the all important hemming to be done. But she has shape!!

Rockman53: All I need is a weapon and LODES OF EMONE! Then I'll post some pictures. C:
There's a lot to choose from, but I mainly recognize Mr. Foster and DJ Scully. Those are the ones I usually see, anyways.
Since you bought it during the Steam Summer Sale, were you able to unlock the Steampunk Mr. Foster skin? But I do agree, I'd love to see someone go in as the Circus Patriarch. He's quite dapper. xD
Just updating for my power armor project. Should be picking up the base pieces from the post office today as the plastic guy came through finally. I'll post base pics tonight most likely. Then spending all my free time to PAX on it.
Quick update if anyone cares. almost done with my costume for pax. just posting a picture so you guys can get a sneak peak and hopefully recognize who im doing *minus the thing im still making*
I'll be going as Gordon Freeman with a science poster (for the third year in a row) this time. Last time I had some pamphlets for people, I should make a new poster, but I did the Antimass spectrometer two years ago, Black Mesa is hiring (and Aperture sucks) last year... Maybe how to survive a resonance cascade this year?
I'll be going as zia again, with my whole bastion group
Link with my dark link (if you remember us from last year) and male navi
Breath of fire iii as Nina. With a ryu and teepo
Bear in mind this is amateur and on a budget. But I think it's coming along nicely.
Heh, amateur and on a budget are the best! My friends last year went as Atlas and P-body, who were semi-biggish items at the time so there were a few others, but they stood out 'cuz theirs were made solely of cardboard and colored duct tape. It ended up making them look almost like 2-D sprite versions!
It's always cool seeing what people can make out of the easy to find stuff, since I don't think I'll ever have the time or money to get fancy molds or plastics like some pros, but I can always go scrounge up some cardboard if I see someone's made it work before.

Thanks, I kinda enjoy the less popular/obvious cosplay. It's like not so much, everyone can make that, sure. But everyone wears something like that. I like to be the odd one out.
Spartan II fatigues, FemShep dress. Easy-ish and yet still recognizable and cool.
oh, possibly finished?

Hey everyone, a check in regarding costume weapons. So we are all aware of what happened at the movies, its has raised concerns for the Convention Center. In order to alleviate those concerns there is a slight change to the weapons policy.
The only change from what has been stated before is that all checked costume weapons that are allowed will be required to have a zip tie put on them to show they have been checked and are ok. This will be in addition to a sticker on the back of your badge with a description of the item and who checked it.
If this is an inconvenience for anyone I apologize, this will be a non-negotiable requirement for all costume weapons allowed inside the event. Although I understand this may mar the effect for some items, we will be flexible on the placement, (for example, somewhere you would hold the weapon so its covered up during photos.)
I hope everyone understands the need to placate the Convention Center, considering we want to avoid any other restrictions on what is allowed.
@Sharkey1337
I haven't decided yet, It's a clip board upside down and backward(the 'clip' part is behind teh key pad)
I was thinking of printing something on clear printable plastic and clipping it in. not sure what to type though..maybe the Bioware schedule/locations..

AirWolf.
Will the zip ties have to be punched through the weapon, or could they be, say, looped around the trigger guard?
Also, I meant to ask this earlier, but with something like a nerf gun, how do they plan to check if it is deactivated? I'm planning on making the cyber blaster from saints row 3(this gun: http://images.wikia.com/saintsrow/images/8/84/CyberBlaster_FriendlyFire.jpg) if all goes according to plan. Do they plan to open the guns at the peacebonding booth?
I plan on wrapping mine in el wire so it lights up, after deactivating it of course. Obviously that means I wouldn't be able to open it. Just curious what the procedure is so I don't waste my time making a weapon.
Would removing the trigger be a sure fire way to make sure it gets through? On top of deactivating, of course. I just don't really know nerf guns, so Im not sure if you can tell from the outside.
many moons ago, I posted that I would do a cosplay of Assassin's Creed - Hellequin. But I have since changed my mind. sorry @appletart - Instead I will be doing the Wizard from D3's concept art. Here is a sneak peak at the progress. Sorry for my website's chops - I am linking it directly. Let me know if it's illegal, and I will take off the pictures. I am posting here to see if there are other d3 cosplayers, let's get plan to together and take some awesome combat shots!
This is the first draft drape -
I revised the shoulders to be less pointie here - right side is the going forward version.

The zip ties can go around the weapons. There are no plans to open up nerf guns or the like. We will want to test fire it to see if it works. Taking the trigger out would be a great way to prevent it from working.
Pulling all of the orange bits out of the gun is a pretty surefire way to make sure it's deactivated. Most of the Nerf Guns you can leave the trigger intact and yank the rest if you want. Nerf was very nice about making it blatantly obvious which bits make the gun go *sproing.*
Going as Darth Revan, I see that there is another Revan going to PAX as well. But I am a MAN, and a 501st Member! Haven't actually gotten this suit approved for 501st yet, kind of slacking on that. I hope to see the 501st there again like last year. I was there last year as a Biker Scout Trooper I was lugging around a DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle most of the time, escorting Vader around.

I HAVE to get a picture with you, Revan is a huge favorite of mine! XD
Finished Yuffie Kisaragi costume- went with Advent Children version since I found the damn shoes. So my question is... should I bother making the ninja star? I don't think it'll past the prop policy since it will end up being some what pointy, even if I dull the edges of the foam. (After attending many anime conventions, those foam ninja stars really hurt regardless of foam or not foam. XD)
I was planning on building it so I could break it down for convenient storage and quickly put it together.
Hey AaronC, thanks for answering all the questions so far. I've got one more quick one, are these same measures going to be taken for PAXEast as well? I'm an East Coaster, and it would be awesome if the same methods and ideas persisted to PAXEast in addition to Prime. It made things a lot clearer and will help make things a lot easier on both the cosplayers and the Enforcers.
"Bein' brave doesn't mean you're not scared. It means you're scared as hell, and then you pick up the shotgun anyway." ~"Bill" Overbeck
The policy as it stands and its implementation should carry over to East. If there are changes it will because we find something works better than what we're going to do this year at Prime. I do not forsee any changes to the policy as it stands now, only to how its implemented if we find it doesn't work well.
The goal here is to have a consistent, evenly enforced policy that is the same for both PAX's

Please read the first post to this thread. It has all the info you need about costume weapons and the peace bonding that goes with it.
Started with the final, swirly fabric.
Good lord, that's awesome! I'm really curious to see what you do with the helmet!
