78! 78 year old man who voiced Sesame Street's The Count passes away! Ah ah ah! ...Oh...

Jeremy Nelson, voice of Count Von Count on Sesame Street, has passed away at the age of 78.

I am unreasonably upset by this. Is there a way that we can make Frank Oz live forever?

So many of my childhood memories come from Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, Labyrinth... Dammit, it's bad enough Jim Henson died so early on. I am not okay with these people dying!

*edit* Oh fuck it he was Gobo from Fraggle Rock too! This fucking year!

Jim Henson's funeral service is one of the saddest and most touching things I've ever seen.

If anyone hasn't seen it, look it up on youtube and grab some kleenex

I know I'm gonna miss this guy. In addition to the Count, he was also the voice of the fat blue muppet who always gets pissed off when Grover screws up his order. Those were some of my favorite Sesame Street sketches when I was little. Hell, I still think they're funny!

This has saddened me much more than I'd have expected. The Count was the best.

I used to have a drill sergeant who would imitate the Count when we were doing push ups. "One! One push up, ah ah ah!"

I was thinking about Jim Henson's memorial, and suddenly remembered Jeremy Nelson singing "halfway down the stairs" during the medley of Jim's favourite songs.

I just can't believe how sad I am about this.

I found Being Elmo to be unsettling and creepy

    Just puppeteers in general, really

I respect what they do and I like the Muppets, I just...don't ever want to see the puppeteer physically doing it

God, this combined with Neil (not Lance) Armstrong is just wrecking my good mood this weekend. Can we please stop with the celebrities, Death?

    RIP, good sir.

"Being Elmo" is a great documentry, both being a feel good story and also just seeing Jim Henson doing his thing behind the scenes is pure childhood nostalgia. Highly recommend.
