It seems some spaces opened up for the Hawken party, as I just got in through the wait-list. I'm going with a friend though, so if he doesn't get an invite by the time we get to Seattle, I'll cancel my order so someone else can get a shot. Really hoping to go though. It'll probably be my only chance to get my hands on that Hawken controller.

The Avery PAX party will be going on. The venue is a little small to let everyone in, but there is a (awesome!) livestream where a lot of industry people will be fielding questions. Everyone on the livestream will be at PAX too, so there's a good chance you might run into them.

It's Thursday night (before PAX starts). Info can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/events/275812272531571/permalink/278657922247006/?notif_t=like

Edit: here is some more info

AveryCloseCall’s PAX party is opening a live stream. This is a chance to interact with some of the industry folks who you’ll be seeing around PAX Prime 2012.

Avery has hosted an awesome PAX Prime party for a few years. This party has served as a chance for industry people to unwind, and get to know each other before the awesomeness that is PAX. This year, we want the community to be there. Unfortunately we don’t have a venue large enough to open the doors to the public (this year at least :), so we are doing the next best thing: a live stream. This is a chance to ask questions of a wide variety of pro gamers, developers, designers, artists, project managers, and many others. You can find a video of the event from last year here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqNFLC79Jvc

Ever wondered when pro gramers actually sleep? What sort of caffeine developers imbibe to stay awake? Or why your favorite game is always so laggy? Jump on the live stream and we’ll find an industry expert to answer.

As an added bonus, you’ll see the people answering your questions throughout PAX. Feel free to come up to us and say hi. PAX is a great chance for us to meet the people who play our games, and we want to use the stream to make it easier for you to meet us.

We have an indiegogo page up here: http://www.indiegogo.com/paxpart , where we are hoping to get enough funding to pay for the livestream. Donations from attendees have pretty much paid for the party itself, and now we are reaching out the community so that Avery doesn’t have to pay out of pocket for the stream.

We hope to see you on the live stream and at PAX!

SEGA does not own gameworks anymore so I doubt they will be having a party there this year. I know for a fact there is another party there this year that is invite only on one of those days.

I wonder what could be the secret party at Gameworks be? I remembered the WB doing one which was invite only last year.

There's this other party going on at Volume Seattle. I think they're doing a cosplay costume contest too.

Anyone find it slightly funny that they used an image of Garra, rather than that of someone more closely tied with gaming? :P

That Volume dress code would seem to preclude a bunch of cosplays; Carl doesn't stand a chance (with the flip flops and sweatpants...) I've asked them about such conflicts, but no answer...

I was wondering about the Volume dress code as well. I also asked when the cosplay contest is going to be, since it doesn't say anywhere. I'm beginning to worry if the cosplay contest isn't real and there will be a handful of people showing up at the club dressed in cosplay while everyone else will be non PAX goers wondering why there are dressed up weirdos in their club.

Yes! "Guests dressing up in COSPLAY will be EXEMPTED from the dress code regulation for this event only". I am there! ... Still don't know exactly when it starts, though.

It said somewhere that it starts at 10pm and goes until 2am. I'll be there, although I hope it's nothing like the lame "PAX party" that they had at Trinity nightclub last year.

How bad was it last year...??

I honestly forgot who hosted the party, but it was supposed to be a 'PAX party' when in reality there was only a handful of PAXers were there and the company hosting said party had a small display area for VIPs only which was invite only.

What time do all the bars in Seattle close? Looking at some of these parties and just wondering how late one could potentially turn up.

I like drinking, I like gaming, so I created the Mana Bar

As a resident of Seattle, I suggest you guys make your way up to Capitol Hill (eastward up Pike/Pine, about 0.5-1 mile). There's always something going on here, at least until about 2AM. (That said, I don't know of anything in particular going on; I just live here and witness nonstop action from my apartment)
