Sorta! A drastic change in lifestyle can apparently reverse it in newly diagnosed people. There was some trial about a year ago, dunno if it ever came to anything.
Type 2 is a mystery - isn't really about damage to the pancreas or anything, it's the cells of the body not knowing what to do with the insulin.
Also it took me til third year nursing to learn what insulin actually does. Til now I'd been assuming it destroys sugar or something I dunno.

I don't even eat sweet stuff, though. Honestly, I'm a salty/spicy kind of guy. I don't crave sweets.
So the only conclusion I can come to is that I drink too much. Probably upwards of 40 beers a week. So the only real life change I can come up with is that I need to exercise more, and quit drinking. I'm certainly capable of quitting drinking. I'm not an alcoholic. I just enjoy it. Especially when playing multiplayer video games.
But I'll live. I should have given up drinking years ago anyway. Guess this is a good enough wake up call.

There are a lot of definitions of alcoholism, primarily centering around binge drinking habits
They are mostly shitty, generic definitions that are meaningless since it's impossible to diagnose a medical condition based on "number of bottles of a thing consumed"
There is a difference between being an addict and just kicking the shit out of your liver because you can't think of anything better to do

I got a pre-prediabetic diagnosis (I know right? what...) a while back when I asked why I constantly felt like shit. If I forget to eat regularly, I will get very sick and upset and very tired. Like right now, as every day, I get this terrible low blood sugar feeling around 4 pm. Any trick to get rid of this? Is this just prediabetic stuff?

It depends on what exactly constitutes your sandwich, but presumably there's bread and a typical sandwich has a shitload of carbs in the bread. Start paying closer attention to the amount of carbs in what you're eating and keeping your carb intake at a moderate while making sure you're usually getting a decent amount of fiber, fats, and protein.
For instance, instead of using standard bread you could use a whole wheat tortilla and make a wrap instead which will have less carbs and probably more fiber also.

I just read cinnamon is actually pretty good at keeping blood sugar down. Unfortunately, too man disgusting cinnamon challenge youtube videos may have turned me off to the whole cinnamon scene.

never said anything about abusive behavior (toward others), blacking out, not paying the bills so he can go buy alcohol, drinking prior to events because he can't drink there, etc.

Late to the party, but yeah, there's a lot of good advice in here. Like everyone has said, becoming aware of what you put into your body is going to become a big part of your life now. It's almost second nature to me now-- I've been Type-1 for... 25 years now? Just be mindful, educate yourself, and take care of yourself. I was non-compliant back when I was in my early teens, and reaching for 28 now I've got the minor beginnings of Neuropathy in my feet and legs; it sucks and it's going to get worse. Like Stale said, bread is just as bad if not worse than sugar, because starch is a polymer of glucose and breaks down into glucose.
I've pretty much got my endo and nutritionist on speed dial, so it's really not out of the question to become friends with these people. It's really manageable, just so long as you're responsible about it. It's a lot of work, but getting control of it early is pretty key in making sure your future doesn't suck hard. You said you like routine, so eventually doing whatever you need to do will just become second-hand nature. Get some good support from the people closest to you, and check your blood sugar all the time; you can never check enough if you're ever not sure.

It's also generally considered healthier to eat more, smaller meals throughout the day. So like half your sandwich at 12 and half at 2 or 3 might be a reasonable change.
Yeah, as a diabetic I've definitely found it works better to eat more frequent, smaller meals instead of stuffing my face 3 times a day.

You're also going to need something to track nutrition information. I'd suggest this book or if you have an iOS device, this app.
Also, best advice I can give you is this: use this as an excuse to make healthy decisions. Make annual appointments with your all doctors (optometrist, dentist, ect.), choose socks that fit well and don’t cut off circulation. These are little things, and really everyone should be doing these things, but especially when you're in a high risk category.
