    I really adored that line, and the utterly unbroken silence that followed it. Ryan was completely unprepared and had no fucking clue how to follow up.

    That's the impression I got from Ryan. He memorized his little mini-speeches to give on the topics that might come up but didn't really have a deep understanding of them. When Biden broke in and debunked him in mid-sentence all he could do was continue with his speech and repeat the debunked point.

    The entire argument is that it was a tie because Biden was rude.

    Do you know the guy least likely to call people out for rudeness? The guy who knows that rudeness doesn't automatically make you unpopular?

    You know, I want to know whose bright idea it was to try to humanize Mitt with an anecdote about helping a family who had been through a serious car crash in a debate with Biden.

    Because that person needs to never work in politics again, on grounds of gross incompetence.

    No, they made it a tie because they couldn't sell Biden losing. This way they can keep the narrative that the Democrats aren't winning debates.

    The media loved Mitt's rudeness in his debate. Yet when a Democrat does it it's a bad thing, as usual.

    How the fuck he can be called a "wonk" after that debate is beyond me.

    Because CNN.

    If you took away Steve Doocy's agenda and cloned him 400 times for the same network, you'd have CNN. Even without a political agenda like FOX, CNN still manages to be the worst of the cable news stations.

    Remember this is the network that asked GOP candidates during their debate if they preferred thin crust or deep dish pizza. They have no interest in journalism or hiring intelligent employees anymore.

    I though that was their way of making sure people who hadn't noticed the commercials were over didn't miss anything.

    #Biden laughed at the idea that an Iranian nuclear weapon incinerating our children. I can think of nothing more unfunny than that

    is what i had to respond to because it was at best willfully ignoring not only facts but also anything that actually happened during that segment of the debate to spread some bullshit boogeyman fear. I called him out on speaking for 'our children,' which is still my generation for another year before my demographic changes.

    Yeah, wtf lesson were the Iranians supposed to take away from the Iraq war?

    Besides, A) Iran still doesn't have missiles to reach the US anyway, so America getting nuked is a moot point
    and, B) Iran isn't a bunch of crazy revolutionaries, they know that if they launched a nuke against someone their whole country would be flattened to dust

    What the Iranian government cares about is staying in power, not religious war. And Iraq showed them that there's only one obvious rule there: If America doesn't like you then you need WMD, and then never give them up

    Yeah, any money that would be spend on a stupid war in Iran, that wouldn't be needed, would be better spend improving our economy. If that isn't good enough for the right, we could you know spend all that money on R&D developing technology that would render nuclear weapons useless against us (missile defense & detection in the event that they try non-ICBM routes), which would be useful against more than one country.

    More ABM systems would be viewed as an aggressive action by Russia and China, and rightfully so. It'd be nice if we could get back to START II so we could avoid missile defense systems and MIRVs (which own missile defense systems), and use the non-war money instead on something else. If it has to be defense related, make it energy infrastructure or cyberwarfare defense.

    What the Iranian government cares about is staying in power, not religious war. And Iraq showed them that there's only one obvious rule there: If America doesn't like you then you need WMD, and then never give them up

    Well see, the thing you're missing is that we need to care about Israel more than we care about our own security.

    I like Israel as much as the next guy, but some of the rhetoric coming from these guys is fucking treasonous.

    I like Israel as much as the next guy, but fuck if their government isn't fascist.

    A nation founded on (and far more importantly, attempting to continue) the ideal of a nation for a specific racial or ethnic group is a really shitty idea, especially in the modern age. The harder Israel tries to defend their "fundamental Jewish character" as a governmental and policy position, the worse things will get for everyone.

    oh jeez, I really need to avoid communicating with strangers on twitter about politics.

    @AriDavidUSA

I called him out on speaking for 'our children,' which is still my generation for another year before my demographic changes.

    he followed with

    @AriDavidUSA
    I have children and their incineration is what worries me the most of all the things out government can prevent

    I then stopped responding because this is frankly insane and I've realized that regardless of what the media has said, the bases will take what they want from this and only a few people will change their stances based on logic ever.

    apparently he's an actual journalist/actor/attempted politician in S.Cal.

    Anyone with so tenuous of a grasp of reality that they think Iran is developing a nuclear weapons program in order to incinerate American children is not worth listening to.

    And you know, considering Iranian history, I cannot blame them for one second for attempting to build a "don't fucking invade us" machine.
