Yeah, I punched one of them.

Not something I'm proud of as I always tried to rise above that kind of bullshit.

Also, it was a terrible punch.

Yeah. It absolutely is a last resort and not something to be proud of

But sometimes, on some base level, fuck it feels good to kick the shit out of a bully

I hit someone two weeks ago.
I was at a party and this ass that I knew from a few years back asked me how my ex was, then laughed, and said if he'd had to be around me he'd have done the same thing.

He was at her funeral six months ago, after she shot herself.

I very calmly hit him square in the face, and then my other friends dragged him off, I assume to kick the shit out of him behind a dumpster.

She was dating a friend of mine and I dated her when they broke up, and there was a lot of drama; this guy apparently didn't get the memo that my friend and I patched things up. He was very, very drunk as well.

I really want to meet a person who says a 15 year old is capable of making smart choices in a consistent manner and its their fault they made a mistake like trusting a suave older person.

So I can kick them.in the mouth.

Man, even then it takes a special kinda stupid to sell a self made porno instead of just, y'know, enjoying the fact that you have a sexually generous girlfriend.

...That was not a good way to phrase that but I can't think of a good one.

Wrong. Kids are kids. They generally lack the experience and perspective to understand why something might be unwise. Just because some kids are smart enough to not do something like that doesn't mean any kid who doesn't know is an idiot. There's not a good way to phrase it because it's blaming a kid for not being a wiser adult.

Jesus. Reminds me of a previous boss. She did not get along with her sister at all because her sister was a raging bitch. So my boss and her husband had been trying for a while to have a kid, and she finally gets pregnant. Then at a thanksgiving gathering of family, bitchy sister literally told her in front of everyone there that she hoped she had a miscarriage.
The worst part? She did end up miscarrying a few weeks later.

It boggles my mind how some people not only do this shit, but they find it acceptable and are able to justify it to themselves.

Like, who told you you could do that? Who told you you could be around people?

    Seriously.

I came from a background where a certain degree of physical bullying was expected to be answered in kind, like establishing a pecking order

I mostly established myself through smarts, but every once in a while I'd get pushed around by a guy

One guy who always picked on me in Spanish class got to the point where he'd jab me in the thigh with a pen (wow when I phrase it htat way it sounds like a come-on, but I think it was just for the pain) every once in a while. And he always did this shit right in class

At one point I waited until we were doing an activity where everybody was separated into groups, and when the teacher was turned away I hauled off and hit him in the face

Teacher was like "What the fuck was that?"

Both of us were like "Nothin"

It was the wrong thing to do, but I don't feel bad about it; we commiserated, hugged it out and shit. I don't hold it against him, either; I'm pretty sure I was an asshole in high school, too, just not in the same way.

But most people aren't shitheels forever, I don't think. Most of the guys I knew who I would count as jerks, they grew up into pretty normal, well-adjusted people

I worked with a small sample size, though, maybe more people stay shitheels than I think

If there was some guy wherever you worked who was constantly poking his head into your space and going "Hey, FAGGOT, I BET YOU LIKE TO SUCK DICKS" you would find that very difficult to ignore for long.

I dunno. That conjures into my mind an image that's more hilarious than insulting.

I imagine myself examining some paperwork as a guy in a suit and tie leans into the room and goes "Hey FAG, BET YOU LIKE TO SUCK DICKS".

and I just raise my coffee cup without even looking up and say "Morning to you too, Larry".

We argued about this one in the LGBT thread.

I feel like it was great thing for him to do. Does you truly understand what it's like to be a gay man? Absolutely not. But if everyone tried as hard as he has to become more enlightened, we would be significantly better off.

No see you can't be gay and have a religious faith.

Science forbid you believe in the teachings and messages of Christ but not the modern views of the church. There's no way to disconnect those two at all.

    AT ALL.

My mom was always embarrassed of my house so I could never invite friends over as a young in. But there was one time! I got to invite my best friend over for a few hours and naturally I was incredibly excited. After about ten minutes of playing outside my 8th grade ' friend' took me and my first attempt at outside school social interaction and, with his older friends, throw us into thorn bushes until we bled. It was really awful.

That reminds me of a time me and a bunch of guys played a game of "throw rocks at each other" which quickly devolved into a game of "throw rocks at me".

Not such a great game in retrospect.

I got bullied for being gay not that I was out then. Now I try not to focus on all the bad parts.
When I think back to school I think back to the people who were nice and stood up for me. I can remember their names and I hope they're all doing well. I don't know if they even realized how their actions stopped me from killing myself.

Outside of two people, I can't even remember the assholes' names. And I only know one name because he was in the news for murdering a 9-month-old. Class act that one.

Happened to me, too. Although a lot of people get bullied for behaviors that are perceived to be gay.
I have several friends who were bullied and aren't gay. But bullies don't care.
