Stay tuned here for updates and information as it develops!

WHO WE ARE:

The Cookie Brigade is a ragtag group of Penny Arcade Forumers who have assembled since PAX 2007 to provide our fellow gamers with delicious baked goods! Cookies are baked by forumers, brought from afar by forumers, and distributed by forumers!

The Cookie Brigade does not sell cookies. We give cookies away for free.
Brigadiers also accept donations to Child's Play, which are entirely voluntary and greatly appreciated!
It's very convenient to get a cookie and give a donation at the same time.

Starting in 2008, the Cookie Brigade began a mission to give these cookies in exchange for donations to Child's Play, the charity started by Mike and Jerry that provides entertainment to kids in children's hospitals. Since starting on this mission, the Cookie Brigade has raised over $71,000 completely from the handing out of cookies and the reception of donations from the incredible, amazing, and generous PAX community! In 2012 alone we raised over $26,000 for Child's Play! Woooooot! Thank you everyone for your generous donations, you have helped an awesome cause!

WHERE CAN I FIND OUT MORE?

Head to http://cookiebrigade.org/ for more information!

I WANT TO HELP IN THE BRIGADE!

If you're interested in

- Baking delicious cookies
- Distributing to people during PAX
- Helping with Logistics

We can definitely use your help! Sign up at our website, http://cookiebrigade.org/ if you wish to participate in the planning, baking, and/or distributing!

An important note: due to certain external pressures on the Brigade, we have to keep some of our more sensitive planning operations private. If you sign up at the Cookie Brigade website, an Administrator will contact you if you're not a known or frequently posting member of the Forums so that we can verify your identity. Thank you for understanding!

BASIC BRIGADE GUIDELINES

- We give out cookies we do not sell cookies! We do happily pass donations along to Child's Play, so feel free to give us donations if you want.
- Keep it PG and family friendly. We love to give cookies out to kids and as such we ask all brigadiers to remain family friendly with their cookies (sorry no dickerdoodles) and distributing activities!
- Have fun and enjoy PAX!

If I can be an Enforcer and a Bickie Bandit at the same time, I'll be happy to help. A 1000km ride down will probably stop me baking but will be happy to help out in other ways.

We got a bunch of new applications in the last day or 2. I'm thrilled to see so many people signing up!

We do have some Enforcers who also Brigadier, so it's definitely possible, @zerochosen. When you aren't on shift, you can spend time distributing, helping organize/watch over supply, or helping out on the admin side. Also, I love the term Bickie Bandit. Maybe we can adopt that name for our Aussie division ;)

EDIT: It's also worth noting that at previous PAX we've had people bring cookies from all corners of the country. Obviously the easiest way is if you're driving or taking a train. However, on our site we also have tips for mailing cookies to a local volunteer or bringing them as checked luggage on a plane.

Leaving me to watch over a pile of bickies is a very bad idea (akin to leaving a bullfrog to guard flies), but good to know we are able to multitask :)

    Bickie bandits...

I'm actually kinda jelly because that name is awesome.

I'm glad to see people interested! Really wish Oz wasn't such a long trip from the Eastern coast of the US. I might have to see about shipping some candy down, depending on whether its crazy expensive or not of course.

Hi all. Just a heads up for those coming into the country and bringing cookies, you may run into trouble with customs if the cookies are not commercially packaged. In fact, you may run into trouble bringing in cookies regardless.

@spectator Most definitely. If you are coming from US might be better to get a serviced apartment (this is what we call hotel rooms with a kitchen/laundry etc.) so you can do your baking when you are here (probably should check with the hotel before you book though, some only have microwaves).

Although I'm not sure how I'd go with time to help distribute, I'd definitely be in for some awesome cookie making :D Ironically... I used to work at The Cookie Man...

Cookie brigade saved my hunger pains in the middle of long long day at Pax Prime once! Recently moved to Melbourne, but will be happy to help out when the time comes! I'll probably try to join the enforcers as well, but have no problem joining in as a distributor and if possible helping with logistics! Will hop onto the site soon and sign up!

I also volunteer myself for the sampler position ! haha

This is good to know, @Punzie maybe we should add this to the OP. Do you know if the same restrictions apply to shipped packages of non-commercial baked goods?

    I don't get it.... O.o

In regards to bringing things into the country, Australia has some of the strictest import laws, hell... we have like... 3 TV shows about idiots trying to bring weird foods into the country.

but here's some links to our customs website:

    http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/mail/cant-mail
    http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/travel/entering-australia/cant-take

I just think it's better off to say, find a Short Stay apartment, and bake till you're sleeping on your feet! As nice as it'd be to make them overseas I think you'll find it far easier to make them here.

I'm looking at a few options for short stay apartments which have basically full kitchens, but I'll see how I go with that, The other thing that I can potentially try to do is talk to my old boss about speaking to one of the franchises in Melbourne to see if they'll do me a deal and bake a shiteload at Cost price (but I think that is highly unlikely).

Depending on how things look closer to the event i'll happily loan out the kitchen in my place! Out of the pure goodness of my heart. Yes. Nothing to do with sampling. Nothing.

I haven't mentioned it here, only on the CB forums, but I'm looking at the possibility of hiring a commercial kitchen if there are a few people interested in joining me somewhere the the lead up to the con (I'd be guessing around the Tues-Wed mark -it would depend on when people are there) I think it's an awesome way to pump out some crazy cookies and have a bit of fun before the con!

If I get an apartment to bake I'll miss my two incredibly large double ovens :(

We have had at least one bakery donate cookies before. It's definitely something to look into if someone wants to make the calls. Another bonus to getting donations form a bakery is that they may give us fresh cookies all 3 days of the con if we have someone willing to go pick them up.

Yes, and I think even with a cookie sheet, but not with real cookies on it :P

    Imagine that with real cookies!!!

Also let me know what you think about using a commercial kitchen for a bunch of people to bake pre-con.

I've just signed up at the cookie brigade! Probably just for distribution, but if I can get a couple of days off work before the big event I could do baking too. After all, if people can carry massive boxes of Krispy Kremes on the plane, I can probably carry biscuits.

For those thinking of bringing home made stuff in from overseas, you *might* be ok, provided all items are fully cooked. You will need to declare the items though.

I think I'm going to trial the gluten free peanut butter chocolate chip ones first.
