When it was up, it just gives you a Steam code, which you can then activate on a Windows copy of the game (since Civ 5 and G&K are cross-play titles, Steam itself makes no distinction).
Gifting someone Civ 5 is either giving them a bill for however much G&K is going for, or it is gifting them a game that is frustratingly worse than the sum of its parts.

i think for my next game i'm going to go as the netherlands, and gun for a cultural victory with a militaristic bent
last game i won a scientific victory as Russia on a huge map, but by the end of it i had taken out four civs, got another one down to a single city on a one-hex island, and was making inroads on the last two remaining civs, and i had fun
