Video Editing - Using the Force

This weekend I have access to my friend's HD camcorder, and I'm planning to film some short comedy sketches. For one of the sketches, I plan on doing a Star Wars parody with force powers. Before I can storyboard any of the scenes, I need to know how I'm going to pull off the special effects.

So, can anyone give me some advice on how to do force pull/push special effects?

I have access to a green screen, but I still haven't figured out which video editing program to get.

Force push and pull can be done with some fishing line I imagine. Or with several cuts, Like cut to can on table, then cut to character concentrating on can, cut to can that has moved, get some b roll of can flying through air cut to character can in hand. That is a pretty hackneyed way to do it but it will give the right impression I think. Plus its meant to be comedy and having the effect not be perfect might add to that.

I've had some decent success with reversing the film. IE: Throwing something at someone, then reversing the footage so it looks like they threw it. It takes some pre planning but it works.

I didn't even know what the fuck and avitar was until about 5 minutes ago.

If you have access to the program Adobe After Effects, that may be able to help you with the implementation of special effects in your video, if you wanted to go that route. This might be an idea to consider if you're doing a Star Wars comedy sketch... means you could have lightsabers!

If you do have After Effects but you're quite sure in how to use it, check out Video Copilot - http://www.videocopilot.net/ - those boys offer a lot of free tutorials in regards to the use of Adobe After Effects as well as a lot of awesome special effects. As dodgy as this will sound, it's what got me into AE and how to use it in my job.

Maybe once you're done with the video, link it up on this forum for us all to see?
