So I took the Sabateur into Gold to get some work on the Rev. Our group just managed to extract. Twas nice. Decided to splurge on a arsenal pack, as I have been going regular Spectre in an effort to build up my consumables. What do I see at position 5? A nice black card. And on it? Harrier. Nice. Threw it on my Ghost and hit Reapers Gold with more pubbies. Its like a totally different game. We were on Hydra so i just stood near the ammo box at the starting area and just burned down all the things. I got 51,000 points towrds the Harrier challenge in the one match and I joinedin the middle of round 3.
I discovered that putting a Striker on James is amazingly fun.

I've been playing MP more recently and I feel like all the good habits and etc I had from playing it tons around launch have disappeared and I play it like it is SP, which is bad. I always forget I'm not Shepard.
quality of pub golds has been dramatically lower over the last few days, maybe its all the folk who got the game for xmas and dinnae have a handle on things yet?
dinnae want to get too 'l2p nub' but no matter how generous a spirit youre in, a lvl 4 destroyer with an avenger i and incisor i does not belong on gold

I can vouch that I have a friend whose level 20 vanguard play would net him less points
Honestly what I've seen of Gold is that barring complete retardation if you have 2/4 members of the team hard carrying you'll be pretty much okay.

I dislike gold matches that are really mismatched in terms of skill/gear. It's much more enjoyable to be on a team of four average players and by sticking together doing quite well in gold. Besides, there's so much more to gold than points. You can contribute a lot, which I found, by just not dying, helping with objectives, rezzing, and if volus by healing.

Oh definitely, I'm just saying that the games not so team focused you need absolutely EVERYONE contributing effectively.
i had a game last night with two jokers hanging off the map at hydra
i had to quit out and give up my wave 3 money because they were just going to take a fucking week to finish even one wave from there and i sure wasn't going to bust my ass carrying them
B-But they might need it at some point when they're playing! Never mind that they probably have at least 4 per mission and a locker full of the stuff back at base!
To be fair I sometimes fall prey to this attitude too, but that's usually because I have about 5 medi-gel and 2-3 missiles at any one time.
i ken, i was thinking again its new folk who have gone straight for gold without really being ready and so they a) only have 2 or so medigel per match because they havenae been playing long enough to get the upgrades and b) pop a gel as soon as they go down because they dinnae ken to wait for folk to pick them up in early waves
i had a wave 6 hack in the bottom corner on white the other day. one player went down on the other side of the map without making a move towards the hack corner, didnae gel and got a flattened head or bled out or something. the other two went down about 3/4 of the way through the hack when we were surrounded by praets and scions and didnae gel - i mean this was at a point when i didnae have enough time to get out a rocket, let alone revive anybody. burned through all my gels and just finished up the hack before getting synced pretty much immediately afterwards. that was pretty much the first time ive actually lost my temper on mic
I had a game this morning where i just gave up. Two of my teammates wouldn't stay in the Hack circle. Those two died right away and refused to medigel and the other guy and I were just swarmed with Brutes and Marauders and he refused to rocket (I used 3). So right before we would have completed it i decided to stay down cause i may not have got the money but TO HELL with those other moochers.
I hope Havoc Strike gets a force/damage buff. Literally anything they add will be enormously helpful. As it is, if you spec it for force/damage and incendiary strike, and take the rank 5 power damage passive, you end up at 990N, aka 10 short of the 1000N threshold to be able to stagger all non-bosses.
Suuuuuuuck.
So I have to spec power damage/weight capacity on the rank 4 cooldown, rather than the extra weapon damage. On a soldier, that extra 7.5% weapon damage would be enormously appreciated.

I saw something I never saw before, a destroyer was using the missile glitch but somehow it was connected to his hawk missile launcher which was speccd to fire the extra missiles, so it was laying waste to everything. Wave 5 on Reapers Giant took 30 seconds give or take, it was insane.
Was he hosting? Ive seen a lot of host based shenanigans.

I think he was, and I think he was French too from the jibberish he was talking (never to the squad of course, he was talking to whoever was in the room and we were just blessed enough to hear him speak)
I agree that Havok Strike could use a boost. It would be nice to have it stagger.
I also feel like it is far less reliable than Biotic Charge, which is odd, since it works on essentially the same mechanics. But I feel like I miss with Havok Strike a lot more. As in, I press the button, jetpack in, and completely do not even hit my target at all, leaving me open and exposed. Also, without the shield recharge of Biotic Charge, Havok Strike is a much more risky maneuver.
I'd like to see them increase its default radius. Since a jetpack and ground-pound are involved in the move, it only makes sense that it should have a bit larger radius than it currently does. I'd also like to see it be enabled as a Tech Explosion detonator. Since the Havok Soldier has the Cryo Blast skill, it would make sense to prime with Cryo Blast and detonate with Havok Strike.
Havoc Strike does stagger, just make sure you have enough power damage bonuses to get it high enough to do so. The Incendiary Strike evo detonates tech bursts too. Giving it a radius by default wouldn't hurt though.
That's why I spec it (4) damage/force, (5) weapon synergy, and (6) incendiary strike, and (4) power damage and weight capacity, (5) power damage in the passive. 1050N of force will stagger anything short of a boss enemy. I equip a tech ammo consumable so I can shoot -> Havoc Strike to detonate a tech burst, rather than fussing with Cryo Blast at all.
I view the stim packs being separate from HS as kind of a positive, as you're less reliant on HS and don't need to charge into the shit in the hopes of getting out of the shit. You can pop a stim and bug right out, which is nice. Don't use HS like a vanguard uses charge, use it like a batarian soldier uses Ballistic Blades: kind of a defensive stagger with a little bit of damage. I supplement that with the GPS or Graal, which also stagger. It could use a little bit of a boost; the Havoc is a great brawler, but not terribly overwhelming in terms of damage output. I don't rake in big scores with it, but it's a nice mix of some offense, and lots of defense and mobility.
Mostly I'd like to see a little more force and damage on HS and possibly a boost to the underwhelming weapon synergy evo (same with Charge itself). I wouldn't mind having the other turian passive too, but that'll probably boost the Ghost, and fuck that.
anywho, the revenant needs: stability, damage, accuracy, armor-piercing
the clip size, reload speed, and movement speed reduction when firing ain't none too impressive, but let's leave that aside for now
so you can probably make it work on some kits, or with some consumable usage (barrel, scope, stability consumable, AP ammo)
but if you're going that route, why not just make a better gun better
The Revenant has a dick-ton of damage as is.
I just went into U/U/G with a Human Soldier carrying the Revenant X with the Extended Barrel and the Enhanced Scope, using the Barrage Gear and some mid-tier Armor Piercing Ammo. For the sake of making sure I was doing this right I took a Stabilization Module, which means I wasn't boosting my shields in any way.
I dominated the shit out of that game.
The Revenant is a Soldier's gun, no questions asked, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Gobs of damage, a deep clip, and shortcomings that can be easily overcome if you're willing to use some weapon mods. It was made for the enhanced scope. THat's not really a problem.
So I gave up on ME1, because for some reason it was broken as hell. It stopped showing character models completely, then I got locked into an area on a reload. So I'm just going to jump ahead to ME2.
Is there a way in the Steam version of ME2 to have a character that didn't actually play through the first game, but has the correct choices made for the rest of my playthrough?

you can either get the genesis dlc which lets you set the major choices but not all the wee sidemissions and so forth, download something suitable from masseffectsaves, or download gibbeds save editor off the same site
Had an odd Plat game last night. We all ended up playing adapts so the leader set it to Rio/Reaper/Plat, when the map started we all ran to the box in the back with ammo in it. All enemies are funneled into a death of biotic explosions. It took 30 min to do and we wasted a lot of consumables on the 3 objective runs, but it reminded me of Geth White Gold a bit in that it didn't take much thought.

Cheating is bad etc etc but that sounds incredible. I'd love to see that.
Destroyer, with devastator mode specc'd for fire-rate and clip size. The trick is that the particle rifle has a spool-up time, after which the beam widens visually and damage increases.
Just got shot down by Traynor. That exchange is amazing. Meer manages to sound so abashed, and Traynor is a motherfucking champion at saving her dumb-ass commander from embarrassment.
I am playing through the game again, and over and over I'm struck from all sides about small stories of courage and loss.
I think for me, the biggest takeaway from this game's story was the essential magnanimity of the spirit, an essential love and generosity that people share in times of terrible crisis... and the tragedy that can rise out of that, when love is not enough to stave off loss.
Okay, so I'm digging ME2. The infiltrator is being abused to play like a dodgy soldier with maxed cloak, passive and working on group cyro ammo because it sounds hillarious.
In the middle of the collector ship playing on veteran, nothings too hard but can I just say:
ME's combat becomes far far worse whenever I have to fight something big. It breaks the flow of widow headshots. It breaks down the combat into 'fire reload fire reload cloak fire reload'.
Seriously.

Not sure how it fares on Veteran but sans Arrival, the Collector Ship is considered the hardest section in the game.
So if you get through there easily enough you won't have much trouble anywhere else.

i don't want to blow six missiles and medigels to end up wiping on wave 9
that said, those teams tend not to have curly haired boy on them

the other guy helping me got hung up on dragoons and died
burned through like two medigels just trying to stem the incoming tide of dragoons and phantoms only to drop three inches from the end of the escort
used one last medigel, got insta-synched by a phantom, but in the time it took for the synch-kill animation to play out the escort finished
Y'ALL ARE WELCOME
sometimes you get an escort and the phantoms and dragoons are thicker than water

Firing from cover, that gun chews up health-based enemies. I don't get what everyone's complainign about. So it needs the scope! Big deal.

Also, Shepard can use any weapon he wants to and make it awesome. A Predator pistol can take down a dreadnought in Shepards hands.
Except the Arc Pistol. I give that to Tali as a joke for her people inventing such a stupid fucking weapon.

I actually find Horizon harder, just because your powers and options are still so limited at that point, and the areas are so big and exposed.
