Oh please. The characters spent 80% of the second issue describing themselves while hitting each other. That's something I expect out of one of those 80s superhero punchfests like X-Men vs. The Avengers.

Well, the only reason Marvel made that crossover was so to get people that aren't reading Young Avengers or Runaways but are reading the Civil War story an introduction to the characters so...
I do not read the book, but I sure as heck will never start if the artist from Runaways/Young Avengers is anywhere near it. barf
What are you talking about, his art is awesome. I hope that he starts doing the YA cause he nailed all the characters and their expressions.

Apparently Cariblue's idea of "nailing the characters" includes, among other things, "all the girls have huge tits" (including the friggin 12-year-old)
I don't see any huge tit's on the female characters, in comparison to the other female sizes in comics they are the same. Also for the record I said I hope he draws YA because he did all the characters very well, I agree that some of the runaways don't look right.
There are many other artists that have worse "style" or problems with anatomy or what have you, but Caselli is fine.
Who is responsible for the kick ass art work on Runaways? You know those pictures that almost look painted (are they? I dunno). An example of what I'm talking about is shown via the first link of the first post of this thread on page 1!
I'm sticking with the book. I like Vaughn, but I like the Runaways enough that I don't need to see Vaughn writing them, I just want to see them persist.
Unless it's that artist. I hate that artist.

Stuart Moore and Jamal Igle, guys? They just left Firestorm mysteriously, and I don't think either of them are exclusives at DC.
Igle recently dropped some very unsubtle hints that he'll be working on Nightwing sometime soon.
new team announced monday. i've been teased by some vague comments and pregnant pauses from people who know. and have been assured that the new writer is "someone you like."
still, i think whoever they put on the book after BKV is going to have a David and goliath kind of struggle on their hands.
I'll certainly give Runaways a chance still after Vaughan leaves. I just don't like writers leaving in general, especially on books they started themselves. Same reason I'm concerned about Ellis supposedly leaving Nextwave after issue 12.
So, Cup O Joe kind of indicates Whedon will be the new writer. But it could just be Joe Q throwing us off.

Hot damn, that'd be a chocie I could get behind. I'm not a Whedon worshiper, though I do tend to like his stuff more than not, but even if you don't care for his other work his Astonishing run has been pitch perfect for Runaways.
Good grasp of the characters and team dynamics, good dialog and character development, and funny writing? Someone comprable on art and I think we're in business

especially now that wonder woman is inching closer to being filmed. if this is how slow he works on comics while he has a script going, i can't even imagine having him write and direct at the same time.

this is the problem with most of the quality talent in comics, really. They're either novelists or screenwriters, and comics become something of a side project to them.
If the book goes bimonthly, my wallet will be happier, but I will be sadder.

It could also be because I don't read Runaways. I might, one day. But right now, I am still not interested enough in it.

As for the whole '3 initialed' thing, it does kind of narrow it down a bit. Bendis, Vaugh, Oeming, Aguirre-Sacasa, Straczynski and David.
