Also Abdhy while I actually am enjoying this track, I really wish you hadn't asked me to watch the video.

Hypnotic and upsetting at the same time.

Lyrics are totally a thing in EDM. Different artists often have preferred genres that they sample from, even! So you can spin some Pretty Lights and expect to hear a lot of soul vocals, etc etc

@evilbob Well I've always enjoyed Daft Punk. But I wouldn't exactly call those "vocals" or lyrics in the traditional sense :P

@Abdhyius Thanks! I'll give 'em all a listen whilst I [chat] and browse.

@TehSloth: Oh cool. Yeah I actually followed that video into another one of theirs and enjoyed it too, so I'll give that a shot.

well, there's a huge difference beetween sampling vocals and being like, a sung song. But yeah.

Someone said yesterday that Girls is this generation's friends. I disagree.
It is Sex in the City seen through the eyes of bitter hipsters.

No, that's not what I meant, I meant like, a song that uses sampled bits and one where the vocals are like, a whole song. To varying degrees.

Like mostly I'm not sure I live in a world where I need this much bass and snare drum in my life.

I do not dance frequently enough!

And I get how, on a physical level (particularly through this setup) the music affects you and can pump you up.

But I prefer my pump-up songs to be more explicit and feature lyrics about disregarding women and acquiring money!

I would agree with that. Generation may be the wrong term, but HIMYM is definitely Friends' successor series.

You should dance more often, then.

Also, this is the song that pumps me up the most. I stopped playing it in the car because I would just drive steadily faster and faster.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IICOChI28vg

First minute can be skipped. That doesn't really pump me up that much.

    the slow bit, though

du da da du dada du da du da da

and at 2:48, it's draggin me along with it

it's not a WHOO LETS DANCE song

it's like... a whinch that pulls me slowly but unrelentingly. It puts me in a state.

I fucking love this song, though. There is no better song for watching the city at night, in silence.
