I'm quite pleased that after getting shot day 2 I picked Mikey as being the suspcious one and then shot him a day or two later just to see what he would do.

But seriously why would a villager place a bomb-what info do you get from some random killings

I'm pleased that I was as spot on as I was with picking out the mafia. :P

You are a Royalist Spy on a mission aboard the SS Phallatomic, a newly commissioned research ship sent to investigate a spacetime anomaly that was detected in unexplored space.
Unfortunately, something went wrong. The Captain is dead, and there are reports that some of the crew are acting odd.
But that’s not your primary concern.
A Separatist Spy somewhere aboard the ship has gained access to some sensitive information. Your mission is to eliminate the other spy and survive until the gunfire quiets down so you can make an escape. Beware, the other spy is certainly looking out for you.

    Abilities:
Espionage Specialist: Years of fieldwork has honed your senses and instincts to an incredible level. In addition to being an expert tracker, you are capable of learning a lot about a person just by taking a quick look at them. You are able to track a player, learning their location and any move action they are taking that night. In addition, if the tracked player is in the same location as you, you will learn their role.

Stealthy: You may choose not to be counted towards the total number of players in your location.

Able to access advanced functions of:
Your specialized spy training lets you access the advanced functions of every subsystem.

    Weapons:
Quantum Arms(tm) Heavy Carbine Custom: A customized military grade carbine. This is a lighter, more compact version a heavy battle rifle that fires a large, high velocity bullet that explodes into a ball of hot plasma on impact. This is one of the most powerful guns in the galaxy, and often sees use among special forces expecting a dangerous engagement. This particular rifle has been customized with a folding stock and made easier to disassemble, which allowed you to smuggle it aboard the SS Phallatomic. Deals 4 damage to a single target.

Improvised Antimatter Explosive: A simple improvised explosive. This is made of a small amount of antimatter in a containment unit, with a timed fuse to break the containment field after the user has hopefully moved a safe distance away. You may use your attack action to set the explosive. The next day, it will explode, dealing 3 damage to all players in the location. Single use

    Armor:
Umbrella(tm) Environment Suit with Integrated Armor: Customized environmental hazard protection suit, issued to all crewmen and research staff. It is a tough suit designed to protect the user from all the typical hazards one might encounter while working aboard a warp drive equipped spaceship. This suit has been modified by adding additional armor to protect against gunfire. You start with 12 hit points.

Victory Condition: Eliminate the Seperatist Spy and survive the chaos aboard the SS Phallatomic.

In addition, you have picked up information on a couple of roles during the trip:

You know about the Researcher role

You are a Researcher aboard the SS Phallatomic, a newly commissioned research ship sent to investigate a spacetime anomaly that was detected in unexplored space.
Unfortunately, something went wrong. The Captain is dead, and there are reports that some of the crew are acting odd.

    Abilities:
None: You are but a simple researcher. None of your 6 degrees have taught you anything that will give you an extra edge in this crisis.

Able to access advanced functions of:
    Life Support
    Laboratory
    Storage
    Reactor

    Weapons:
Personal Protective Sidearm v10: Standard issue ballistic sidearm issued to all personnel being sent on missions deemed to be at risk of alien encounter. A highly refined version of centuries old technology, it is known across the galaxy for it's reliability and ease of use. Unfortunately it lacks the stopping power of more modern weaponry. Deals 2 damage to a single target.

    Armor:
Umbrella(tm) Environment Suit: Standard issue environmental hazard protection suit, issued to all crewmen and research staff. It is a tough suit designed to protect the user from all the typical hazards one might encounter while working aboard a warp drive equipped spaceship. While it won't last long under sustained fire or repeated environmental damage, it should keep you alive for a while. You start with 10 hit points.

Victory Condition: Eliminate all threats to the crew of the SS Phallatomic.

    Just unlucky this time.

I thought, "what are the odds, eh? This is pretty much guaranteed to work out in my favor!"

Oh ho ho of course not.

Langly was, once again, essentially a neutral cop. How does that happen?

I made the same roll with retaba (though I was pretty confident he was not the spy since you initially just said "survival neutral"), and was just lucky.

Or rather, to roll bad on that I really just needed to be super not unlucky

    Mafia Group PM
You are the Essence Walkers, a species of mysterious and powerful aliens. Your species has no discernable physical form, instead being made up of a loose collection of high energy particles. While this form is useful for avoiding detection, sometimes it is necessary to interact with physical objects in a local environment, so your species has also devised a way for you to transfer your essence into another living being. Unfortunately, this causes a permanent change in your structure, and from that point forward you are reliant on a host body for survival.
The great collective has ordered you to set up a trap in order to hijack a human spaceship, for use in infiltrating the human society. You have stirred the curiosity of the humans by sending out pulses of high energy waves towards their civilization, and they have sent the SS Phallatomic to investigate.
After causing some initial chaos, you have each taken residence inside a member of the ships crew.
Due to your nature, you have several abilities available to you as a group. These can each be used nightly, unless otherwise noted.

    Group Abilities:
Slay: By focussing the energies of your group and lashing out, you can cause the death of a single member of the crew. If one of your group is in the same location as the now deceased crew member, they will gain their weapon. If more that one of your group is in the same location, you may choose who gets the weapon. This cannot be used on the same night as Essence Transfer.
Essence Transfer: By focussing the energies of your group, you can transfer a single members essence into a new host. This will cause you to lose the name, abilities, equipment, and HP of the old host, and gain that of the new. If you and the target are both in the same location, you may keep your weapon. The essence of the new host will be transferred into your old body. Unfortunately for them, the old body will immediately die without your presence. This cannot be used on the same night as Slay.
Life Detect: Your group may pick one target, and learn their current HP.
Distort Reality Every night pick one location. Your group members in this location will be protected from all sources of environmental damage, but not damage by gunfire or explosive weapons.

    Win Condition:
Defeat all who would stand in the way of you hijacking the SS Phallatomic.

*Repair Warp Drive - This will allow someone with proper training to use the helm to warp the SS Phallatomic out of, or back into the asteroid field.
*Sabotage Warp Drive - This will make the warp drive non-functional

    Reactor:
-Sabotage Reactor Containment - This will vent highly radioactive fumes into propulsion, causing 1 damage per night(starting the next night) to players in that location.
-Repair Reactor Containment - This will restore containment to the reactor, stopping it from venting fumes if it has been damaged or sabotaged.
*Adjust Reactor Ventilation(Location) - This will change the location that the reactor will vent to if it’s containment is breached.

This will be the closest thing to village proboards that you are going to get. Here is the conversation between the propulsion people.
    SeGaTai January 31
what up propulsion bros. So we are all confirmed villagers so everyone just post what kind of special they are and go about your business.

All kidding aside this is a list of people I already thought were unlikely to be mafia, the slym vote helps that one out.

Realize that Baidol attempted to get us to target the bridge originally, but odd that both Baidol and Grimmy pushed to get propulsion seered instead of somewhere else.

So either villagers with a need to get themselves confirmed or mafia who knew they would control the results of the scanner test.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
I just hope the result wasn't tampered with, and was reported honestly. For now, with the proviso that this isn't a true network, it's at least a useful group in which to do some talking.

So: thoughts on the remaining players? My piercing gaze is currently falling on ebum and MikeyCTS as being those who've been present the most often when things have gone down. That's partly mathing out movement and partly gut of course, and there are others who might fit, but...
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
Incidentally, I'm the lone dude in Propulsion tonight.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
I had similar thoughts about Mikey, the other info I can provide on him was the following experiment.

I was shot for 4 dmg days 2 and 3 in the same room as mikey, day 4 I shoot mikey for 4 dmg, he makes note of the damage in the thread.

If he was mafia I figure he would try and link those events together, and get us to turn on the remaining people in the cabin. But he does no such thing. So my conclusion is that he is just not very involved in keeping up with the game.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
I'm pretty confident about the results because for the results to not be reported honestly both enlightenedbum and bradicus would need to lie, making them both mafia.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Now, whether it was propulsion that was scanned is an entirely different question.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
My dunalist is EB, Mikey and capfalcon.

This list assumes 20% mafia to start. With battle mechanics, you can never tell.
    CesareBCesareB January 31
I'm not sure I agree. If I'm mafia and attracting the kind of attention mikey is, I want to be very careful about what I say so it can't be turned against us later. In his shoes I would mention the info, perhaps a couple of times if people seemed to be ignoring it, and hope others drew the conclusions for me.

Even if he doesn't appreciate how much attention he's getting, he still might not want to throw focus on the cabin if there were other mafia there.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Sega and Cesare, where are you today? I am in the cabin.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
Yea I think you pointed out that say the bridge could be targeted instead in order to get a mafia confirmed.

We have a list of everyone that was in Eng last night right, thoughts about public role call for actions in ENG?
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
Capfalcon. Under all the radars, everywhere, forever. That list matches up with mine strikingly well, Baidol.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
The locations of capfalcon and EB are still a mystery. One was in the cabin and one was in engineering.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
Cabin as well so we could start to think about kill teams there
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Yeah, but I think the people we want to kill will all be in Engineering.

Heffling will not have moved from the Cabin, so we have one last mystery person with us.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
Should we make an attempt to mass-fire Mikey to death tonight, and then try to vote out one or the other of Capfalcon and ebum?
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
It's going to be really funny if EB's first vote for mill that he wasn't expecting anyone to pick up is what ends up screwing this game over for the mafia. I'm sure that proboard will be fun to read later on
    BaidolBaidol January 31
If Mikey is MegaMek's uber-damage counterpart, you could try and argue that not voting for him will give him more incentive to not open fire on the village. I do not know how effective that will be though.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
Yea life support to the cabin was cut off last night so I'd assume mafia actually made a point of moving away from the cabin-if they have any hope left they have to go for the long haul and taking small dmg like that isn't going to help them.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
Heh. Or if Baidol's "Mill was a death Miller" thing ends up being the actual case. In which case we will have just fluked our way into success.

If we win. There are still probably three of them out there, and numbers are getting low. We need to off at least one tonight.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
Why was megamek shooting ppl in the first place?
    BaidolBaidol January 31
    Because he has a gun.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
We could ask him to go guard the bridge... isolate him so his firepower isn't an issue.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
I like yesterday's vote record for SLyM: My village list, my dunalist, then Invictus and myself with last-minute votes.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
I think our best plan for today is to figure out who the last person in the cabin is and then tell everyone not on the dunalist to shoot EB or Mikey or cap, whoever is not our vote target.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
Was thinking that wouldn't work for a second but apparently its a party in ENG so good chance they will hit their targets there-seems reasonable.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
    Bridge: ZH
Cabin: Baidol, SeGaTai, Heffling, mystery person
    Propulsion: GrimmyTOA
    Engineering: Everyone not mystery person
    BaidolBaidol January 31
We know where everyone was, Grimmy. You can stop panicking.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
What we need are people's position today. I have sent word to brad, megamek and others not on my list asking where they are today.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
I'm not panicking. I'm trying to elicit a response from ebum and his ilk. I'm as interested in where they say they are as anything else.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
What say I ask villagers not to come into propulsion? If we can corral the mafia in with the villagers we have a better chance of shooting them to death. If someone comes into propulsion that's more or less proof positive that they're a stinky liar who stinks.

    Thoughts?
    BaidolBaidol January 31
MegaMek claims the last spot in the Cabin, so we have:

    Bridge: ZombieHero
    Cabin: Baidol, SeGaTai, Heffling, MegaMek
    Propulsion: GrimmyTOA
Engineering: capfalcon, englightenedbum, MikeyCTS, kilnaga, BradicusMaximus, OminousLozenge, CesareB

I suggest we vote out MikeyCTS. Bradicus has told me that he and EB are both lab techs, which allows them to shield other players for three damage. This was confirmed by EB shielding brad and then shooting him, with brad receiving a PM saying he had been shielded from two damage. Brad was shot last night and EB claims to have been "stunned". Lab techs cannot shield themselves, so we should vote for someone not EB and then have kilnaga, cesareB, OL and brad shoot EB.

    Comments?
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
Sounds good to me. Kilnaga told me about the shielding/stunning thing (he had it from Bradicus) but hadn't gotten back to me on whether or not ebum could shield himself.

I'm out for the night in only a few minutes, so I'm going to put a vote on Mikey quite soon.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
    Understood.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
So in this scenario EB is mafia, EB took a day to shield brad and only shot him for 2-A value that seems on the low side for a mafia weapon but possible with the shield to balance out-in order to get brad to trust him, in the hopes that Brad reveals this information to the thread and confirms his as a lap tech, likely when Brad dies the next day from mafia kill.

It's a little out there but I could see that happening. Odd for a mafia to purposely waste damage like that but its not that much damage I guess.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
That's the thinking. It also appears that the shielding can be done in addition to an action.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Abilities have always been independent of actions.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
Yeah -- I just don't have an ability so it was news to me. :P
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Are we comfortable with this plan? Should I start sending out orders?
    BaidolBaidol January 31
You must have an ability, at least one tied to a room. My role has nothing I can use each day, but I can do things in certain rooms.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Actually, hold on, that's not true.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
My ability is independent of what room I am in. I imagine your role lacking an ability is made up by being able to use more rooms?
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
I'm comfortable with it. If it turns out that neither of them are mafia then I'm pretty sure that those scan results were off and you guys are the real monsters.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
Yea the room abilities all count for your attack/interaction.

Some people apparently have additional abilities, like the shield, and whatever teh fuck Baidol's watcher nonsense. Those can be used for free
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
I can access advanced functions in the propulsion room (alter flow location) but other than that I haven't found anything. I've never been to engineering or the bridge though.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
What is that watcher power, Baidol? It made me so suspicious of you on day 2.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
Your role PM tells you what systems you can access the advanced functions of-if its just propulsion you are either the lowest of villagers or you have some other ability me thinks
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
Oh, and I can make bombs in the cabin. Never done so.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
    That would be security
    BaidolBaidol January 31
I spy on people. If the person I spy on is in the room, I see all of their actions that night.

This is different than tracking, which is what the actual spies had and what I caught Langly doing Day 1. I imagine there is some irony here.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Security guard, grimmy? I am a Security Officer.

    Baidol January 31
@CesareB put some bullets into EB tonight, please.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
A researcher. I guess I make bombs with science. Like MacGuyver, but in space.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
Huh. I guess I'm more special than I thought. I can access advanced functions of Storage, Laboratory, Reactor, and Life Support. I guess I can go shut down that corrosive leak if it's still going tomorrow.
    CesareBCesareB January 31
I was hoping to repair life support, actually. I guess a little bit of extra damage in the cabin isn't all that much of a worry.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
We will be fine here. I took only one damage when gas was vented from Propulsion.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
life support is 1 dmg as well
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Everyone who we think is not mafia in engineering has said they will shoot EB tonight.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
I'm still not sure this is fool proof, I think EB just has the worst reputation.

Entirely possible that EB is honest about the role, and brad is mafia. Brad roleblocks EB, making him look guilty, and claims he was shot. Everything we know makes this possible. It makes no sense for EB to go along with the shield/shooting test plan if he knew he wouldn't be able to go through with it and then just claim, O he was roleblocked, that's why it didn't work. Worst mafia ever.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
If EB turns up green, we have a very small list of suspects to kill tomorrow.

    You know, just brad.

And I have yet to hear of a role that can roleblock people.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
true-more people would have reported getting blocked hopefully for that to be a thing, will stick to the vote records and say EB should die-just seems too easily handed to us
    CesareBCesareB January 31
I think I know why ebum is claiming to have been roleblocked.

He thinks one of his fellow mafia were roleblocked when they tried to re-sabotage the anomaly scanner on night 4 (probably himself), so he's taking the calculated risk that the village knows of a roleblock and is willing to consider that there might be a mafia one.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA January 31
The mikey vote he just three out is likely an attempt to a look innocent by voting for another suspect and b clear mikey tomorrow.
    CesareBCesareB January 31
The mafia... does not have many good options atm.

I mean, unless they did manage the "mess up the results" gambit and one of us actually is mafia, I guess.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai January 31
Assuming 3 mafia they would need 1 here and both of them in eng last night. Maybe possible but probably unlikely, considering deaths as well.
    CesareBCesareB January 31
    Hahahaha, called it!
    BaidolBaidol January 31
I'm curious what role has a roleblock.
    CesareBCesareB January 31
    We shall see.
    CesareBCesareB January 31
Well, this guy just took 9 damage from gunfire... ouchies.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Was there a bomb or did the guys just take potshots at you?
    CesareBCesareB January 31
    Gunfire.

I think he meant that he had set up a bomb tonight and it's gonna go off tomorrow. Any movement orders will come after the bomb goes off.
    BaidolBaidol January 31
Grimmy, are you still in Propulsion?

SeGaTai, are you still in the Cabin?
    CesareBCesareB 12:00AM
Also, very strange results all around.

I'm concerned that the "mysterious" death might be a SK, as it appears to have hit ebum tonight. I should note that ebum was found dead in the cabin even though the people shooting at him were in Propulsion.

And my results PM said that my "attack hit my target." Has anyone else attacked and hit a target? Is that the standard message?
    CesareBCesareB 12:02AM
Wait, nevermind. The whole ebum/Megamek switcheroo thing probably explains the difference.
    BaidolBaidol 12:08AM
Even if there is an SK, the list of suspects is quite small.

    capfalcon, kilnaga, bradicusmaximum and yourself.
    CesareBCesareB 12:10AM
I kind of feel bad for the remaining mafia. Even if it's a nonstandard game and there are 2 left, they're still looking at an uphill battle.
    BaidolBaidol 12:13AM
7/2 isn't bad at all. We miss the vote tonight and then it is minimum 5/2. Worse, if a bomb goes off tonight and you die to make it 4/2.
    BaidolBaidol 12:21AM
I expect Mikey used his standstill attack on CesarB and EB probably set a bomb. Let's see if anyone in Engineering else took damage last night.
    BaidolBaidol 12:27AM
Yeah, Mikey shot CesarB. Mikey's vote in the thread for Cesar was him calling his shot.
    BaidolBaidol 12:45AM
    But seriously, vote out cap.

If we are assuming there is no SK, we should look at the SLyM vote ( GrimmyTOA, Kilnaga, ZombieHero, BradicusMaximus, CesareB, Mikey CTS, Capfalcon, Enlightenedbum, Invictus, Baidol ).

The vote was 5 SLyM - 4 M.D. - 3 Mikey when Mikey put his vote on SLyM. The mafia sacrificed SLyM to save Mikey and you'll notice the next votes on SLyM were capfalcon and EB.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA 3:52AM
If there's a SK, then that means the mafia didn't have a free kill. I'm going on the assumption that there is no SK.

    SeGaTaiSeGaTai 8:31AM
SO this was ENG the day that we were anomaly scanned.
enlightenedbum, Invictus, BradicusMaximus, MikeyCTS, SLyM, OminousLozenge

Invictus died to actions so he didn't get to interact with systems, slym died to the vote so he did get to interact with systems. OL claimed to use the scanner, so did EB and so did Brad.

One mafia sabotaged life support, still looks like it was possible for the anomaly results to have been obfuscated. The mafia clearly knew they were 50% of that room, its odd that they would have taken the effort to sabotage life support when they could have tampered with the results if there wasn't some play for them to make. The 1 dmg from the gas is trivial at this stage of the game.

Still not saying one of us is mafia but something to be aware of.

    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA 8:37AM
They would have had to use all of their actions for the night for a 50% chance at a useful result, but yeah, that's weird. Definitely something to think about if Capfalcon (or whoever the thought is for tonight) turns up green.
    BaidolBaidol 8:42AM
Vote after everything but movement. SLyM would have been able to use the scanner, but someone sabotaged life support and I imagine MIkey, as a weapons specialist, would not have been able to do that, so either SLyM or EB did that.

That leaves one of SLyM and EB, then Brad and OL. So, we have one confirmed mafia member using the scanner and two others.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai 8:42AM
Yea so far the mafia have all been fairly inactive, so maybe just a poor showing but tonight should wrap up all the missing pieces
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai 8:45AM
The mafia definitely have at least one attack that is not location based-since TRV died alone in propulsion, and attacks go before interactions. So either one of those 3 mafia couldn't use the scanner, or they had no interest in tampering with the results, or did tamper with the results with. Guess that doesn't really narrow anything down but still unusual
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA 8:46AM
So really only a 33% chance that they screwed with the results successfully, if they even tried.

    BaidolBaidol 8:51AM
Pretty sure the mafia have the standard mafia kill that is independent of player location and action. As I explained, Mikey should have been unable to use scanner.
    CesareBCesareB 9:32AM
Yeah, my SK talk was just silly. It was 3 am and I wasn't connecting the dots on enlightenedbum and MegaMek. Ignore it.

Basically, either the anomaly scanner worked and capfalcon is bad, or it didn't and one of OL/Brad and one of the 4 of us is bad. I consider that last option really unlikely, because the overall amount of anti-village actions seems to fit in more with 1 mafia left rather than 2. I could maybe see there being 2 mafia left if one of the mafia has to use his action to pull off the mystery kill. If that's the case it's slightly possible that ZH is a 7th mafia (along with capfalcon) and has been sitting in the bridge pulling the trigger on the myster kill this whole time.

In any case, capfalcon remains the obvious target.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA 9:35AM
Right. So we votekill Cap and hope for the best. If that doesn't work, then we re-consider things tomorrow.
    BaidolBaidol 9:37AM
By "reconsider" you mean "die horribly in a ever-faster maelstrom of paranoia", right?
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA 9:38AM
I guess Baidol could Watch ZH tonight just in case.
    GrimmyTOAGrimmyTOA 9:38AM
More or less exactly, yes. I'm kind of hoping that it won't be an issue.
    SeGaTaiSeGaTai 9:40AM

So yeah, as Langly has learned, I was the nitwit who planted the bomb in Engineering. At the time, my thinking was, "well it would be a shame to let this go to waste." I decided that if the vote switched and I lived, I'd get the word out on Day 3.

As a contingency, I revealed the existence of the bomb to another player and asked them to warn everyone if I got voted out.

So yeah, a hugely and indefensibly dumb move on my part. When I planted the bomb, it was out of an interest to see what would happen. If I'd really thought about it, I would have realised how much trouble I was about to create - I literally could have cost the village the game!

I did learn something, and will be much more careful and consciencious in future games. As for this one, I sincerely apologize to my fellow villagers for the undue difficulty my actions created and promise to do better.

Being thrown into this game halfway was quite an experience, let me tell you what.

My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)

Nope. IW found something shiny and wondered what it did
