My favorite book of the week
It's a little like Fables with a little 1984, but these characters are fictional as opposed to being in a Fables-like world. Basically every time their story is told, they have to act it out for the audience (a mother reading to her son, etc.), and they just get tired of having to "act" every day. The story centers around Red Riding Hood who is becoming more and more disenchanted since her story is popular, but she has to keep in line otherwise Grimm, the guy who keeps the story running on time, will punish the characters.
Ramos' art is beautiful, and the colorist Leonardo Olea is fantastic. It's a pretty book with a decent enough hook, like this Fables anonymous scene:

It also puts a totally different, much darker spin on that comment Steve makes about having bad dreams in issue #1
Megatron's effectively come back from the dead in a new body after three years of deactivation, and has found Starscream led his troops into destruction. his troops, diminished, low on fuel, forced into cannibalizing each other for parts to survive on an asteroid. Starscream had the autobot matrix of leadership, he had control of the decepticons, and he failed.
Megatron continues to taunt and degrade Starscream, he fires on Megatron out of desperation, they fight for quite a while on the asteroid.
Not dead.
"GHH"
Good.
"What were you thinking, Starscream? What did you imagine was going to happen to you when you opened fire on me? Look at me! I am MEGATRON! Even as I lay in disrepair under your nose you could not vanquish me! What hope have you now?"
"Hope?! Fhah.. Hope took a walk long ago.."
"NO! This is not you, Starscream! I don't expect a backbone, but I expect a viciousness,, an acidity.. some self-preservation! You want me to destroy you?"
"Yes."
"You really want me to end this all, don't you?"
"Yes!"
"Well, think back on the last thing you really wanted, Starscream, and remember what an utter failure that was, too."
That's exactly what always happens.
my Moment of Forever
is the following line, delivered by the new Smasher's dying grandfather in Avengers #5:
"Heroes make others believe they can do great things. Heroes make heroes."
And then they'll fix it. Because that's what they do.
I'm not certain you understand what I'm referring to.
I'm referring to his lines about how whatever line they cross, whatever weapon they choose will become accepted overtime. Their believed necessity will blind them to better options.
And this book is also always good for at least one really great laugh each issue, and this one had one with Kitty trying to train young Bobby Drake.
Tony's space adventure predictably begins with him attempting to live out his Captain Kirk fantasies.
Then, he is put on trial for a rather unique crime.

Strangely, "there's a giant flying horse behind me, isn't there" is probably what sold me on this. I've yet to go digital or pick up a single issue in ages, but if the word remains good I may just end up with the first trade. Err, in August, which is when Amazon says it's coming out.
I think it was from last week, but X-Men Legacy is also great and it had the best use of the Marvel AR yet. All the AR things should be narration from characters.
They sounded like rich girls from California.

Glory #32; Glory confronts her father for their final showdown, only to discover an even larger threat on the horizon. And then everyone has waffles.
gawwwwd, I love the art in this book.
Nowhere Men #3; The survivors of the secret space-station explosion land on Earth, whereupon three are beset by a science gang. Luckily, one of them's been going through changes, recently.
If you skipped out on this series after the slow, convoluted first two issues, try this one. It's much more fun, and cogent.
Multiple Warheads #4; The enigmatic bounty hunter's bath is ruined by bandits, and Blue Nura finds puns pearilous.
I have to admit, this issue was a bit of a letdown as a conclusion to the mini-series, but as a comic, and an installment in what seems to be a much larger epic, it's damn fine work.
