What is the deal with Quebec? Why don't they want to be part of Canada, land of good manners? Instead of embracing their Canadian-ness, it's like they're trolling their own country in a drawn out way by teasing them with constant reminders about how awesome France is.
If Canada were a family-friendly summer camp movie, Quebec would be the rich Valley girl who constantly complains how there are no malls or room service menus in the woods.
What's the deal with Texas? Why don't they want to be part of the greatest economy in the 20th century? it's like they think that just because they're a big state they can stand on their own.

A lot of people grow up in Quebec essentially being told that they're not Canadian they're Quebecois because Quebec is it's own nation because History

Look it up, it's pretty interesting
There's always been a lot of tension between english Canada and french Canada
Quebec gets a lot of money from the federal gov, and provinces have a lot of autonomy, but they feel like Anglo Canada dictating how they operate treads on their distinct culture and sovereign independence.
While the machine will stabilize to the correct answer on any learnable set in some finite time, it can only identify it as correct if it is recursive; otherwise, the correctness is established only by running the machine forever and noting that it never revises its answer.
EDIT:
According to a 1992 paper, a computer operating in a Malament-Hogarth spacetime or in orbit around a rotating black hole could theoretically perform non-Turing computations

Seriously, though, Emn, are you just fucking around or are you genuinely curious?
Meh. A tad interested. Are the cultures different between Quebec and the rest of Canada? Like, really different. Not 'California is different compared to Texas olol' different.

It really seems like bullshit that the Federation gave up cloaking technology in their treaty
Like that was.... a bad decision
Cloaking tech is ubiquitous in powerful empires and is crucial
That's like... signing off on not using shields or transporters
They do eventually though iirc.
As far as I know only The Sisko is allowed to use cloaking tech, and that was only after he promised to only use it in the Delta quandrant. (a promise he didn't exactly keep, but hey there was a war on).

There are 23 countries in North America and by North America we typically mean 2 of them
I usually see people mean Canada + US + Mexico, unless they're specifically distinguishing between North and Latin America.
Fuck the Caribbean and Central America, we ain't got no time for your shit.
I don't even see people typically meaning Mexico, in casual conversation
when people say anything about "North American Culture" they are generally talking about norms that don't extend to Mexico

So I'm not officially out of my 90 day probationary period.
Which means I can get free courses from the university. I feel that if I don't take advantage of this I'm a fool, but I also feel like I have no use for a second bachelor's degree.
Maybe I'll just poke around in classes that look interesting with no regard for prerequisites or follow ups.

also given the sheer number of plots that revolve around detecting a cloaked ship, it's practical value seems limited

I'm actually thinking of an episode of TNG, where Q is swapping Picard through 3 times in his life (Past, Present, Future).
In the future one, Riker's Captain of the Enterprise and it cloaks.
Granted, it's pretty much a throw away scene in a one-off episode. But what sort of Star Trek fan would I be if I didn't analyze every detail and assume it's part of a larger plan.

They speak a different language, have their own film, music, and television industries that create content that no one else on the continent watches or listens to, have a distinct history being the descendants of French colonies on the continent, have their own cuisines, traditions, idioms, slang, and swear words

What about those high school-aged kids who piloted a cloaked starship and spied on the Jin'Had-Jam'Hid -Jem Hadar?
They weren't concerned with possessing cloaking technology for Federation missions.

it's a long and tiresome story
I don't like doing this on the computer very much. Not sure why.
But both my attempts started to look like things really early on.

I have to try pretty hard not to do that in the margins of people's invoices when I am writing them up.
It doesn't work on a computer, because I have to think too consciously about it.

You're seeing the upper-right triangle as, what, an upraised arm or lance and the middle "split" triangle as a shield of some sort?
possibly a greater than sign
