You guys,

Spring training for Major League Baseball started a couple days ago.

The "pre-season", so to speak, will start near the end of the month, and run throughout March as the teams prepare for the long, arduous regular season.

Opening Day (AKA my Christmas) is March 31st.

I may flesh this post out in the morning.

Why am I still awake.

G'night [chat]!

Edit: Oh hold on!

how are you gonna make a thread like this and not talk about one of our reigning champs and how he decided to cut his hair to give the rest of the league a fighting chance at the title this year

I regard the West Coast teams of baseball with nothing but contempt.

    Oh except Seattle, they cool.

I've gone from watching baseball games all summer to basically just waiting for the playoffs.

That's what you get with an owner who literally has no interest in winning, and a stadium that's so bad for hitting that you can't even bring in free agents because they all have you on their no trade list.

I have only ever watched baseball in Japan

It seemed quite energetic, what with all the songs and chants one had to learn in order to be a good supporter

but the game itself was dumb

football is a great sport with sever issues that hopefully can be dealt with

baseball is an even better sport that rarely results in life ruining injuries

Baseball is a really great style of game to listen to on the radio. Like soccer or especially football is just too much shit going on at once.

Baseball it's one guy facing down one guy at a time, and you can hear the crack of the bat or the boos of the crowd after each play.

Somebody can go up to the plate/mound/stick/whatever in cricket and score like 100 runs, though, right? Seems like it has the opposite problem of baseball. It's more like basketball. Your team scored. Big deal. That was ten whole seconds ago.

Football aka soccer is on the other end, where games routinely end 1-0, decided by penalty kicks or sudden death OT. American Football kind of finds the sweet spot, IMO. Scoring isn't a foregone conclusion, but neither is it a freakishly rare occurrence.

If only the NFL would let the play on the field decide the outcome, and not 'tweak' it with crooked officiating to fit their preferred narrative for the Super Bowl pairing, it'd be a great sport.

Baseball is at its best when you have two great pitchers having a duel. Loves me some 2-1 games

Baseball is at its most boring when you have two great pitchers having a duel. Hates me some 2-1 games
