If we happen to get a full signup list by this weekend, we still won't end the first day until Monday.
Jesus, it is taking forever to fill this damn game.

The knights in the capital are there instead of the front line for reasons that I might as well get into right now.
Ohh please do! I'm exited to roleplay!
I doubt anyone pays as close attention to the detail in the [strike]three[/strike]two Knights of Arcadia game storyline, but if you did you might notice two things.
1. This takes game has the Acquaintance in it, so it must be after the events of the SE++ game.
2. During the SE++ game, Underlund was overrun by OSA and his demons. To wit:
He presents you with the dinner, a meat pie made from game the Acquaintance had acquired. He takes a bite out of an apple, and continues. "The rumors are true: a demon now sits on the Underlund throne. It is very dire I am afraid. Sorry, not a demon, no. The Demon King Osa."
The Acquaintance frowns and shakes his head. "The Underlund oligarchy sought power and were found wanting. And so goes the story of how a country was slaughtered and damned in a single night. But it's a story we all know, the wheel of fate turns the same now as it always had. Where steel, sword, and war were now is replaced by souls, runes, and rituals." He takes another bite from his apple. "A servant suffers his master's hubris, whether in plains of heather or in planes of Aether."
So how is this possible?
Did you notice how there are no aristocratic PCs from the Asphodel guild? Most were replaced by actual demons when they wagered the Underlund countryside for power. They had assumed that wagering their subjects would save them from a horrible fate if they lost The Game, but it simply ensured their own demise. The players were half aristocracy and half subjects who were aware of their masters' treachery. The Game was short, the Asphodel contingent lost.
Magic creates an illusion that the Underlund countryside is not a hellscape. It also protects the main trade routes to the capital and the capital itself from outright demonic incursion.
But now the surviving aristocracy has entered into a new contract, double or nothing, wagering the capital and all its riches against the Underlund countryside.
The Acquaintance is interfering somehow and, from his own sick humor, has manipulated the magic at work to ensure that no person responsible for creating the pact is actually playing The Game. They still suffer the consequences in the event of a loss, but they have no control over the outcome.

Six slots left, five after @Infidel chooses a role
I really hate to cut it when it's this close to filling up, but if guess we'll start on Monday if we don't get the final spots this weekend.

Weekends tend to be pretty slow regardless. Starting on Monday would probably be your best bet either way, and that will give some extra time for stragglers to sign up.
In the other boards, I give a longer definition for recent. In D&D there was the political phalla with politicians. Last one in SE++ that I can remember was Baidol's mass effect phalla for ME3.

I do believe Ebum's Daily Show in D&D was the last one there and yeah, I agree, Baidol's ME game was the last I remember in SE.
So, Habemus Phallam with interlocking and opposed factions of conservatives, liberals, and reactionaries attempting to prevent a crypto-Protestant from taking the throne of St. Peter. Too sacreligious, or just sacreligious enough?

I was Day One's in Phallaclave, so I'd be totally down for another one.

But won't the liberal faction be like 1 guy?
Sorry. Should have said "liberal".

Alright, the game will start on Monday regardless.
3 people dead to inactivus on the first day would be a nice change of pace to the usual start anyway.
And yeah, only 3 spots left! You have until Monday at 6 PM to join!

The slow signups got me wondering, have there been any D&D or SE++ phallas recently? Those always seem to bring in a new crop of phalla players.

There hasn't been a recent D&D phalla, I know that's what got me into this. SE++ is one of those boards that I rarely visit, so I wouldn't know.

If not, I find such endeavors beneath my station.
No such thing! Why, a sense of one's self is all ya really have, after everything's been...
stripped away...
Then it's all gone,
and you'll never ... get it back.
