Review of literature suggesting that the weight of evidence supports a causative role in the development of psychopathology.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16507965
Earlier onset of psychosis seen in users of marijuana.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2892048
This one is a large study of Swedish conscripts. Marijuana was associated with a sixfold higher risk. The risk persisted after accounting for confounding factors. This suggested that marijuana was an independent risk factor for schizophrenia. Amongst the strongest
    epidemiological evidence
    available.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17349865
Abstract only, but evidence exists for both hypotheses.

In response to the tobacco and alcohol arguments above -
Although some products that are legal can cause harm, this does not give inherent justification that other products that cause harm should be legalised.
We will be increasing the harm to some parts of the community by legalising marijuana, with the potential benefit of reducing crime rates. I still contend that criminals will make money through sales of other illicit drugs and the crimes will continue.

Fair enough, as long as you recognize that none of these studies present a mechanical causative factor; it seems much more likely that some individuals are predisposed to psychosis and cannabis use is either self-medication on their part, triggers this latent vulnerability, or both. It's analogical to alcohol in any of those scenarios, but since you seem to believe that alcohol is likewise problematic I suppose that's doesn't do much to persuade you.

Strongest argument yet... :p Assuming that this follows on from Gabe's experience last week.

It appears to be the make a strip panel. Though I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the panel attendees being high :P

I feel that no one includes my opinion whenever the argument to legalize marijuana comes up. I would be fine with it being legalized as alcohol is, if it were consumed the same way. The fact is smoke is invasive, I can sit next to someone who is drinking some beer and not have to deal with it myself, but I can't sit next to someone smoking pot without breathing it in.
I don't want to second hand smoke pot, so make it into a drink and I will be cool with it being legalized. As it stands, for my own sake, I do not want people smoking up all around me.

Hash brownies. It's the only way to be sure.

Include a rider banning public use. Bam, problem solved.

    So...Like WA does?

    http://liq.wa.gov/marijuana/faqs_i-502
Q: The initiative says I cannot consume marijuana in public. What is the definition of “in public?”

A: Initiative 502 states that it is unlawful to open/consume a package of marijuana or marijuana infused product in view of the general public.

Not like it stops anyone anyway. Besides, cigarette smokers are a bit more annoying about that. Ever happen to get stuck walking slightly slower than a cigarette smoker who just needs a cigarette during their walk? Pot smokers are usually a little more discreet about their activities...
