So who are you seering tonight?

After which he went dark. Also he was the only person I had talked to the whole game.

So I told Gandalf that if I died that night, to look at Phyphor. Because he was the only person to talk to me the whole game and knew I was a vig. I figured it was a mafia action seer tactic or something

    Then the mafia killed me.

    Worst. Luck. Ever.

It wasn't totally luck. I fingered you as the vig when you asked the clarification about colors after narration day 1.

    -.-

I ask about color deaths in every game they are not colored a different color. That stuff matters!

But good eye nonetheless because I was really fast on the clarification.

I gave the mafia powers which gave them incentives to keep the bandwagons off certain people and to try and manipulate certain people into voting their way.

Larlar had to straddle the line between getting people to vote his way and not tipping off that he had sharded some people. He could have tried to ally himself when he got down low to try and go skeet shooting. He was aware when shards were removed from certain targets as this was necessary for his Will mechanic.

I need to start having six seers in my games because they never create any semblance of a network and all die horribly.

Hey the seer lived long and formed a network in that one game I won! :rotate:

I thought the vote powers were really interesting, but the village probably should have had one too in order to have a chance of figuring some of this stuff out. The mafia knew that vote were powering certain kills and it took us the entire game to figure out the pool of blood, never mind the Will. Giving the village some sort of power based off of voting would have at least alerted them to the fact that votes could have effects aside from just winning. It wouldn't have been a lot, but without something, there's just way too many possibilities.

Thanks for running Munkus! It was a great game, I had a lot of fun trying to figure out all the death mechanics. Also I guess my ability would really only have worked against Obi and noone else, right? Oh, and was Phyphor's ability a combined seer/shardcure or was it two abilities with separate targets?
Will of the Acquaintance - The Acquaintance could power up people with shards, sending a beam originating from them to hit whomever they voted for, so long as it benefited the Acquaintance (i.e. did not remove any shards, unless that shard was on a person who could cure shards)

Oh man, I was totally on that track after the first few days but then he just KEPT CHOOSING BEDLAM and I figured why would he do that when Bedlam is so obviously the flies-guy! Silly Larlar :(
Flarne finally figured out the pool of blood. The last couple if days we were looking closely to try and vote out people who had votes on other people we wanted dead.

So annoyed that it took so long to figure that out, just because I wrote up the day1 deaths wrong and kept coming back to "but nobody voted for Mill!".

Damn you mafia, killing me just as I was starting to piece things together! It's sad though, how much clearer things get once you died. Like, reading the narration when I died, I was like "oh, so Invictus, facetious, and TRV are all mafia." Too late to be of any use, of course.

You didn't give me my role name or anything. All the information you told me was that you knew I was a vig, which could be found out by a mafia action seer as well as a village seer.

While, yes, mafia could just kill me, they could also attempt to get inside of the network early and play that gambit.

I wasn't going to be uncooperative either. I was asking who you were seering so I wouldn't target the same person. That seems pretty cooperative. ;)

I will say that I'd have loved to be eliminated days ago (and considered inactivus-ing myself) once it became clear that the village was a non-factor. Playing in a situation where there's no chance to win isn't really that much fun.

Except the village was never a non-factor because of the way @Larlar 's mechanic worked. Which provided a lot of consternation to me and him.

If Bucketman had been voting consistently for mafia the last few days? Then village could have won!

I guess maybe I could have brought the plague mechanic back as a sort of vote-by-product, or made the Curse of Splinters really explicit. Except I didn't want the CoS to hurt Larlar because of the sheer number of shard removal mechanics:
    1 vig
    1 mafia
    1 vote
    1 village cure
    1 mafia cure

Potentially 5 people getting fixed per night, and as luck would have it he hit 3 mafia men and the village shard-seer.

I dunno, I feel like the mechanics I made have a lot of potential at least (namely the curses) and I would love to see people try it out in their games.

Now that I think of it, I think I've made a role that kinda fixes the normal thrall problems.

It's a village aligned role with the Curse of Flies so that their vote kills non-mafia members. They are still a good guy, the mafia still wants them to be alive and voting because it nets them an extra kill.

EDIT: I still find it hilarious that @Bedlam was secretly the most important role, killing the most villagers AND mafia memers combined. HE'S THE REASON LANGLY DIED YOU GUYS

Yeah, we were pretty desperately trying to get people to vote for Saber in order to manipulate the pool of blood, though of course it turns out that didn't matter. I had intended to do a whole big writeup accusing him and justifying it, but instead Saber voted for Bucketman and Bucketman immediately voted for Saber, so I didn't have to go to the effort.

I really think that as village, I am justified in not listening to the Acquaintance when you don't provide the way you got the information. Why, by the way, didn't you explain why you thought TRV was mafia? The whole mafia was convinced you knew because we'd removed a shard from TRV and a bunch of village specials that might've done that were dead, so you inferred that mafia removed a shard from TRV, and obviously the mafia want to remove shards from themselves. If you explained that, I think it'd have been harder to ignore your call.

Generalísimo de Fuerzas Armadas de la República Argentina
  • LarlarLarlar consecutive normal brunches Moderator, ClubPA mod
I don't know, we disagree on that. Honestly, I didn't think it should have mattered what my justification was. The village knew they were outnumbered and on the brink of defeat, and they also most likely knew all their specials were dead. They also knew I couldn't win with the demons. If I come in and hand them what I say is a demon, there's really no reason at that point not to go along with it. What's the worst it can be? Another villager? They should know my information, however acquired, can't possibly hurt them any more in the short run than going alone will.

There are two things I could have done, and I wish I'd done at least one of them because I thought about doing both.

One was picking you instead of Saber for my 10th shard. The other was going along with the Saber wagon on the last day, because it wouldn't have made a difference in the vote at the end but it probably would have swayed Vert from picking him. I think if I had done either I could have won, but I had two shards left in play and they were both being attacked by the vote out of the gate, and I panicked. Curse my own phalla inexperience.

And what if that person just hops on the bandwagon for most of the game?

This is why it's important that the mafia choose the person, because they can choose a person who either 1) doesn't do that; that's what we did, or 2) will listen to particular members of the mafia.

If you'd done that, it would've been much worse for you, actually. We targeted me with a shard-removal ability on Day 3, I think, and at that point I think the shard-removal special was still alive, so you would've had a worse time determining I was mafia than you did with TRV.
