Don't suppose you know the word-count limit off the top of your head?

EDIT: Yeah, I think that nev has had the best guard mechanic I've seen so far. With the caveat that you can't guard someone who is guarding.

Was there a particular aspect of it you think was bad, or are you just 100% against conversion in general?

And NATIK, you think the good guys needed more guardians.. or what? I am a little confused by your post.
As it stood, at the end of turn 5(?), if Green had not changed Jake's power to one ability per turn (?), and not allowed double-guarding, there was no way the yeerks could have won. I mean, technically it was the double-guarding that screwed us over. The multiple abilities per turn is really good, but we would've taken Jake or the Elimist if only one could be guarded, since there was a turn (4 or 5), where both got hit with something.

I'm not against conversion mechanics, but you don't use them instead of the kill. And you certainly don't get to gain the good guy powers as well. The Phallanoia game had a great conversion mechanic. No one knew that the bad guys had it, they could use it only one time, and it made the target a baddie and made them lose their powers if they were a special.

I had imagined that the badguys would get Visser Three as well as 3 or so one time conversion shots. Not 5 kills (in essence) a day. Conversions are much better than kills, in that you know that the person is still removed from the active pool of suspected good guy special (and total good guys), while adding one more to your voting bloc.

This game had imbalance after imbalance after imbalance. The huge yeerk imbalance to begin, then the huge Jake imbalance right afterwards, followed by the huge yeerk imbalance to end.

I think the bad-guy advantage at the beginning had a lot to do with our luck for finding good-guy specials. We took one out right off the bat, then killed and converted another 2 the next day. Losing 2 vigilante kills so early really changed the game because those were supposed to help keep the Yeerk conversions in check.

Was marco a run-of-the-mill Vigilante? Or did he have "controller reveal" as well?

And what made Tobias' seer powers risky to use?

could you post the mechanics and role pm's and other nonsense so we can see how this was made?

Most of the basic mechanics are outlined here (This is also what Meister posted during the metagaming incident for those that missed it)

I did make a few additions/changes for the actual game, which was actually the reason role PMs took so long to send out

I gave Jake the ability to Acquire, dropped the Yeerk win condition to 21, and gave Cassie the ability to block the mob vote

There were a few mechanics that nobody knew about, such as Visser's immunity to the mob vote, but these were pretty few and far between

    Role PMs
Congratulations! You are an ordinary citizen. Plain old vanilla is your favorite ice cream. Your favorite TV show is the news. You collect stamps. You work in a cubicle and hate your boss. You wish you had superpowers, but too bad, you don't. That's life.

    Win Condition
All Yeerks including Visser Three dead or arrested.

(Don't be worried, everyone is getting this PM. If you turn out to actually be a special, you'll receive a follow-up PM in the next few minutes.)

    ________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Jake.
    Jake.jpg

The Animorphs look to you as their leader, whether you like it or not. It falls on your shoulders to make life-or-death decisions nearly every day of your life, but somehow you manage to pull through. The coming battle will be your greatest failure or your greatest triumph. Good luck.

Of course, your family is full of remarkable people. Your cousin Rachel (Darkseid) is, of course, a fellow Animorph. But then there's your brother Tom (shenanigans). Tom's a Controller. If he ever found out your secret, it would be all over. Against all reason, you desperately hope for a chance to set him free from the Yeerks.

    Power: Acquire
Every night, you may target a player with this ability. If that person is a Special (aside from Yeerks), you will absorb their power and be able to use it as your own the next day. When that day ends, so does that power. You may Acquire a single player as many times as you like.

    Sibling: Rachel (Darkseid)

    Win Condition
All Yeerks including Visser Three dead or arrested, but Tom (shenanigans) must survive.

    _________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Rachel.
    Rachel.jpg

You bring the raw physical power to the team. Your Grizzly morph has done more than its fair share of damage to the Yeerks, and yet it's still not enough. Nobody invades your planet. And then there's David. The seventh Animorph. You know he's still out there, even though none of the others believe you. But you know better. And you're going to make him pay.

Of course, your family is full of remarkable people. Your cousin Jake (real_pochacco) is, of course, a fellow Animorph.

    Power: Vengeance
A one-time-only kill ability. You're saving this for David, but it'll work just as well on anybody else.

    Sibling: Jake (real_pochacco)

    Win Condition
All Yeerks including Visser Three dead or arrested, and David dead.

    _____________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Marco.
    Marco.jpg

You're the smartest one in the whole group. Pity that nobody realizes it but you. Ah well, at least you can still crack jokes with the best of them. You never really wanted to be a hero, but you've taken to it pretty quickly.

Of course, the jokes are your way of coping with the horrors that you and your friends face on a daily basis. Sometimes it just isn't enough. When your control starts to slip, you suddenly become one of the most brutal fighters on the field.

But until then, you're just happy-go-lucky Marco.

    Power: Berserk
Every night, you may use this ability to kill one player.

    Win Condition
All Yeerks including Visser Three dead or arrested.

    _________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Cassie.
    Cassie.jpg

The other Animorphs look to you as their spiritual and moral guide. In the midst of combat, it's all too easy to forget that you're still human. You've got an obvious love interest in Jake, but when's the right time to act on it when you're staring down the barrel of a Dracon beam?

    Power: Guard
Every night, you may target a player with this ability. This Guard will prevent kill attacks from succeeding and will even negate the mob vote. Unfortunately, it does not prevent the player from being Controlled.

    Win Condition
All Yeerks including Visser Three dead or arrested.

    ______________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Tobias.
    Tobias.jpg

You are the red-tailed hawk. There was a time when you were human, but that's in the past now. Besides, there was nothing for you in that old life. Now you serve as the all-seeing eyes of the Animorphs, watching from on high as oblivious Yeerks carry out their business below.

You live in the forest with your shorm, Ax (Tossrock).

    Power: Eyes of the Hawk
Every night, you may target a player with this ability. This ability will reveal a player's Role, Power, and Controller status. Note: Controllers have a 25% chance of noticing you.

    Sibling: Ax (Tossrock)

    Win Condition
All Yeerks including Visser Three dead or arrested.

    _______________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Ax.
    Ax.jpg

You are Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill, brother of Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul. Both of you crashed on this planet known as Earth. Elfangor didnot survive, but he did manage to give five humans the ability to morph using the Escafil device. Later, these same humans used their power to rescue you from the bottom of the ocean. You have sworn allegiance to their leader, Prince Jake, until you can be reunited with your own people.

You live in the forest with your shorm, Tobias (Nuzak).

    Power: Yeerk Hunter
Every night, you may kill one player with this ability. If that player is a Controller, Ax will use interrogation tactics to wring information from the Yeerk and will be given the names of two other Controllers at random.

    Sibling: Tobias (Nuzak)

    Win Condition
All Yeerks including Visser Three dead or arrested.

    ________________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Erik.
    Erik.gif

Though you may look human, it is nothing more than a complex holographic projection. You are, in fact, a Chee: an ancient android created by the now-extinct Pemalites. Your programming forbids any sort of violence, meaning that you cannot take a direct stand in the fight against the Yeerks. However, you can still aid the Animorphs in your own way...

Since you are not human, Controlling does not affect you. The Yeerk parasite placed in your head is kept under sedation, leaving your mind and will yours alone. Your win condition does not change if you are Controlled.

    Power: Interference
Since you are so adept with technology, you can subtly influence the mob vote each night. Your regular mob vote counts as four votes each night. This power is passive, and must be used with each vote.

    Win Condition
All Yeerks including Visser Three dead or arrested.

    __________________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are The Ellimist.
    bkell.jpg

Long ago, you were the Ketran known as Toomin. Ellimist was your chosen game name, as you shaped the lives of countless virtual species. Then the Capasin came. Unable to understand the difference between a game and reality, they annihilated your people or playing god with lesser beings. You and a handful of others managed to escape. Now, you are all that remains. An unimaginable cosmic event has transformed you into a nearly godlike being, allowing you to sow life all across the universe.

    But there is another.

Crayak. He is your opposite. Your anithesis. Your nemesis. Where you bring life, he brings death. You can no longer physically harm one another, so you both turn your attentions to the war unfolding on Earth. Let the final game begin.

    Power: Omnipotent
Since you nor Crayak can directly interfere with human lives, you must work in other ways. You may Seer or Guard 1 player each night. Seering reveals the target's Role, Powers, and Controller status. Your Guard prevents kill attacks from succeeding and prevents that player from being Controlled. Unfortunately, it does not negate the mob vote. Your human avatar on Earth cannot be Controlled, but he can be arrested. If Crayak is removed from the game, you may use this power on two players per day.

    Win Condition
Crayak, Visser Three, and David all removed from play. Fulfilling this condition will not necessarily end the game.

    _____________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are a Yeerk.
    Yeerk.gif

Pathetic humans. They really have no idea what's in store for them. In fact, this invasion would have been over by now if those meddling Andalites weren't around. No matter. Your glorious leader Visser Three (arod_77) shall soon crush and devour them. Perhaps you may even be able to bring one of them in alive. Imagine it! You could be made a Sub-Visser in mere days! The thought is tantalizing, to say the least. If only your worthless host would stop his pathetic cries for freedom...

    Power: Controlling
Every day, you and your fellow Yeerks can Control up to three players. Controlling a Special will reveal that player's Role, Sibling, and Power and immediately convert their Win Condition to yours. These conversions are tied to you three original Yeerks: if one dies, you get two conversions. If two die, one conversion. If all three of you are removed from the game, the remaining Controllers are assigned one kill per day of their choosing.

To protect your identies from other Controllers, I've set up an alternate account for you to use. THIS ACCOUNT IS FOR PHALLA PM USAGE ONLY. DO NOT MAKE ACTUAL POSTS WITH IT.

    Name: ******
    Password: ******

Original Yeerks: shenanigans, DrCongo, Mr. Embarkation

    Visser Three: arod_77

    Win Condition
21 total active Yeerks, including yourselves and Visser Three, OR all Animorphs Controlled or removed from the game.

    ________________________________________________

Congratulations. You're not just any Yeerk.

You are Tom, who just happens to be brothers with Jake of the Animorphs. Of course, you don't realize it just yet. But you've got a feeling something is up with your little brother. You think it's time for him to join in The Sharing...

    Win Condition
Same as Yeerk conditions, but Jake MUST be Controlled.

    ________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Visser Three.
    Visser.jpg

You are the one. The one to finally kill Prince Elfangor. The Visser overseeing the conquering of Earth. The only morph-capable Yeerk. You have it all.

Except for one thing: the heads of those worthless Andalite scum that are constantly interfering with your plans. But rest assured. Before this war is over, them and all their kind will either kneel at your feet or hang from your tail blade.

    Power: Brutality
Every night you may use this ability to kill two players, including your own underlings.

Original Yeerks: shenanigans, DrCongo, Mr. Embarkation

    Win Condition
21 total Yeerks, OR all Animorphs Controlled or removed from the game.

    _________________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are David.
    David.jpg

You used to be the seventh Animorph... until you dared to disagree with them. Until you tried to live your own life. They turned on you. Left you to die on some godforsaken rock, trapped as a rat for the rest of your life.

But now you're back. And you won't stop until you've made every single one of them pay.

    Power: Vengeance
Every night you may use this ability to kill one player, including those that have previously been arrested.

    Win Condition
    All Animorphs dead.

    _______________________________________________________

    Congratulations! You are Crayak.
    Crayak.jpg

You see all. You know all. You rule over all. You are Crayak, and none can match your power.

    Until him. The Ellimist.

For millenia you struggled to crush his spirit, to stamp out his sickening idealism. Where he sowed life, you sowed chaos and death. And still, he would not break. At last, after countless lifetimes, you finally believed your hated rival to be dead: crushed to oblivion within the singularity of a black hole. But the Ellimist survived in spite of you, now forever beyond your reach.

Or so he believed. Because you have followed him even here, to the very core of creation. You can no longer physically harm each other, but you can still break his spirit. You both turn your attention to the unfolding war on Earth. Let the final game begin.

    Power: Omnipotent
Since you nor Ellimist can directly interfere with human lives, you must work in other ways. You may Seer or Guard 1 player each night. Really I think the only problem with this game is that Jake turned into Sylar, unkillable and all-powered.

I don't have a problem with conversion, I really think that when you choose to make it public, a conversion aspect adds another level of strategy to the game.
