Yeah, it has been so long that I think we were all used to the vBulletin days, where requesting features wasn't really feasible.

Modifications were so painful just to keep things running we couldn't really ask for toys.

Now it is like "wait we can have a dice roller? WHY DIDN'T WE ASK FOR THIS?"

Next on the list is integrated encounter mapping with player-movable tokens and initiative tracking. I know almost nothing about programming so I'm going to put it in the "Piece of Cake" project column. :P

Wonder if it'd be feasible to put the rolls inside the post underneath the Quote bar.

I think that is what Icy is working on. It would definitely be distinct that way.

I spent a couple months idly working on that concept before I found out that Roll20 existed. It integrates into G+, we should get Icy to integrate it here too! ;D

Oh thank god it does have an upper limit.

Edit: 10 dice might be a bit low, though.

Maybe it would be better if a roll with modifiers separated out the mods in the results? Instead of the first die getting an impossible score, 2d10+10 would come out something like "7, 4, 10 (sum: 21)" instead of "17, 4 (sum: 21)" or similar.

    Hmm, when most people say 2d10-20, don't they mean (1d10 + 1d10) - 20, not (1d10 - 20) + (1d10 - 20)? I'd classify the current behavior as a bug.

Don't pick on the parsing/results quite yet.

I'm packaging up the roller from Orokos.com with the intent of Icy incorporating it.

How about letting thread starters (typically the DM) view edits made to posts in their threads with rolls attached?

Whenever people edit their post, anyone can see a marker on the post that notes it was edited and when. So if a roll post is made and gets edited, you should automatically discount it.

It is just necessary to provide enough tools for hosts to run things how they see fit.

You don't have to make it a rule that you need to never edit a post, or must put a useful description on Orokos, etc. But it is good to have things for the host to rely on or enforce if they want.

Existing edit tags should suffice, so long as the edits don't trigger the roller.

I'm planning to make it so that only the initial post causes a roll, and the post's roll results will be forever locked thereafter. The roll info will not be editable by the author. This is gunna be entirely a non issue.

Any way to pass it data to "highlight" dice?

    like a typical Shadowrun rolle:

    Geth roll 9d6

in 1st-3rd, any 6s would be rerolled and added to, towards hitting a TN. In 4th, any that hit 5 or 6 count as a hit. 1s can potentially be glitches, 6s can be rerolled if edge was spent. Just some way to seed highlighting/formatting, though that might be much.

Another example is Arkham horror, where 5/6 is a hit, 6 can be a hit on curse, 4/5/6 hit on bless.

You can see what my dice engine currently supports here. That should hopefully make it into this okay.
