Joe Webb has been moved to WR.

In other news, Richard Sherman hired Lance Easley for a charity softball game. Easley is, of course, the replacement ref who ruled the Green Bay touchdown in the MNF game as an interception.

    JOE WEBB

Somewhere, Tim Tebow is laughing at Joe Webb's flexibility and willingness to do anything to play professional football.

Seriously though, if he can catch, I see that working out well. He's certainly got the athleticism and size.

  • ButtersButters A glass of some milks Registered User regular
I wouldn't call that a fair comparison. Webb ran a 4.43 at his pro day and is built like and NFL receiver. Were Tebow to try his hand at tight end or something he'd be competing against players much more suited for the position athletically than he is.

He didn't make it catching, running routes, or blocking either. I'm not arguing that Tebow should be a quarterback in the NFL. He absolutely shouldn't. What I'm saying is given his experience and circumstance he wasn't as able to consider a position switch as the taller, way faster Webb. Webb also wasn't drafted in the first round by a coach whose intention was to groom him into a quarterback.

the nfl is a league where no contracts are guaranteed and where players' bodies are destroyed without any longterm post-retirement health coverage

basically, to be a fan of the nfl at all you have to either look the other way or accept as necessary evils some pretty murky ethical practices

now either kyle love's diabetes will hurt his ability to play football, in which case this cut is a shrewd decision - not entirely unlike cutting a guy who's a question mark coming off an injury. or, it won't hurt his ability to play football, in which case it was a poor decision by the patriots and he'll be fine on another team - but poor personnel decisions happen constantly in the nfl, i don't know why one would cause you to be mad at the patriots unless you were a patriots fan

also let's not pretend like kyle love was a pro-bowler, there was no guarantee that he'd make the team at all - hell they just cut brandon deaderick on monday, a guy who played the same position as love and was probably playing it better at the end of last year

because of the deaderick cut i'm not sure i like this one, they are starting to lose depth up front, but we'll see who else they add

It doesn't make me hate the Patriots anymore than I already do. I understand the NFL is a business and these are business decisions, nothing more.

I'm mad at the patriots for explicitly cutting him because of diabetes. Jay Cutler has type 1 and does the damndest things sometimes and, yes, I know they're different positions and all this shit but I say there has to be a new rule in the NFL:

If you cut a player because of diabetes, the Bears have to cut Cutler too.

    Intentions are funny things.

    Sometimes they get packaged with a 7th for a 4th and a 6th.

In addition to the eight pending charges he is facing, Titus Young has been accused of domestic violence by the mother of his 9-month-old son.

The woman has taken out a temporary restraining order, and is seeking a permanent one. "He would say things like, ‘I understand why O.J. killed his wife,'" the woman alleged in a court filing. She also revealed that Young has been "clinically diagnosed with a mental disorder." Things are going to get worse before they get better for the troubled Young.

Also, Mike Goodson's career in the Jets doesn't look like it'll last much longer.

Breaking: According to News 12 in New Jersey, #Jets RB Mike Goodson was arrested for drug/weapons possession last night.
Goodson was apparently so drunk, per News 12, that an ambulance was called and he had to be rushed to the hospital.
Per News12, Police found marijuana on Goodson along with a gun with ammo in his car. He has been arrested and charged.

As far as I know the only guarantee in Goodsons deal was the $1 mil signing bonus
I would imagine that this is the kind of situation, if found guilty, can possibly void a deal.

Seriously? The Jets would void a deal just for that?

Maybe Titus Young has skewed my view lately, but that doesn't seem like something an NFL team would void a deal for...

If the gun is unlicensed isn't that a gigantic deal in Jersey or is that just New York? Plax's punishment was 5x what it would be in half of the rest of the country.

    That's certainly something.

Cool to see them leveraging cross-promotional ability like that, though. Now, if I can get a free year of NHL Network with NHL14 I might bite on it this year.
