maybe there could be a series of mini battles to weed out teh n00bs. and the winners could get the better slots in the fight tree or something. i dunno.
I think I'm gonna sit on the sidelines and cheer you guys on for this one. I had a lot of fun with the last one but I can't join this one at the moment.
Did we ever have a vote for the swimsuit round? I know we had some interesting entries.
Also, I'm submitting myself as a character this time (a cartoony self-portrait), so if anyone wants to have a shot at punching me in the face, this is your chance.

Well then you'd need someone to actually write the story behind it for people to figure out, and a mod could insert "clues" into random threads. People would have to read every thread in the forum to look for hints and subtleties that would lead to the murderer.
Plus, the forumer who gets killed would have to act "dead," and not post for the duration of the event.
What about this, we have the first (or maybe even each) round as normal, and the person with the fewest total votes becomes the victim? Each fight after that is still selected (somewhat) randomly, but when creating your fight you have to come up with a reason you believe your opponent is guilty. IE Murder weapon, motive, opportunity, covering your own tracks etc. That way the story is developed by all people involved in the tournament. Of course the question then becomes how do you vote? Based on how well you move the story along or on the criteria established previously.
You see, this is my problem. I overcomplicate things that should just be fun.

maybe celeste turns up missing. without the head of the tournament the fighters turn on each other, throwing the blame around and trying to figure out who among them is the murder. the battles would start with the first combatant accusing the other and attacking. then blah blah story dynamics etc.
i like these new ideas regarding the tournament, but i also like the standard full-out battle. if i was good with plot development i'd be a writer

Ha, the way the tournament's been progressing, none of the characters would miss Celestial much. Unless they started fighting over who got credit for killing him.

well... someone's got to take over for him, and i believe that the person who kills him gets to take his place as lord of the tournament. i thought that's how everything works, or maybe i've watched too much futurama
There might be a few loose threads in my upcoming final attack that could be expanded upon in some way in the next Tourney, as far as a story is concerned.
I have a fun idea that we all can do and use to filter out the noobs. We draw our characters auditioning before a panel of judges that would ask a question (it should be the same question for everyone).
"What would you do if a strange child with dirty hands touched your fries?" or "How would you dispose of 100 zombies?"

You'd then draw your answer.
I like that idea. Would everyone else compose the judging panel? Sort of make this a pre-tourney elimination stage. After all sumission have been entered, everone involved votes yay or nay to allow them into the competition.

That seems like an excellent idea. Something to cut down on no-shows could only be a good thing. Plus the entries would be hilarious.

I am far from missing, my friends. Like a horriblly cliche'd super-villian and Taco Bell gas, you just can't get rid of me. My attempt to take over the AC may have fallen short this year, but I will return with some retarded, over-dramatic, and easily-usurped plan in the near future.

I'll throw my hat in the ring to be on a team with someone.
I dun draw. Me write.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I will also like to join, I will post my charater in the AC for critiques tommorow. I will probobly most likely lose my first round, but I just want to get my feet wet. You may not know me, and if you do, you probobly remember my very stupid comments, I usually won't post for a while when I say something dumb or do something dumb, then I return. I also remember my stupidity way back when, I will not make that same mistake again. Is this alright?
I'd love to join and take all you guys on! There are some great artists and writers here that can really truly push my limits.
But alas sadly... I don't think i'll have enough time to put anything together. School's a bit much this semester. But hey, there's always hope for the third tourney, right?
EDIT: uploaded RGB versions of the piccies of my character
As MagicToaster said, submissions are still a ways off. I have one more thing to do for this year's tournament before I even start work on the next tournament.
If ya'll are itching to go, I recommend picking up Will Eisner's "Graphic Storytelling and Visual Narrative" and doing some practice runs with comicing if you've never used the medium before. If you have, write and rewrite your character and try to come up with something original.
Don't you have to draw well to get in the tourney because if so...
Yes and no. You see, everyone votes on everyone else's submissions. However, at least for me, my voting was swayed mostly by those who had well thought out attacks and managed the best story. On that note it is easier to convey certain things with better artwork and that will win you votes...etc. Also stickfigures don't work because you can't tell which combatant is which.

Beer is the perfect lubricant for twisted and vile animal gibberish. I use it myself when the times are ripe and my need great.

With that said, I've updated the first post with those interested that were not already on there. We stand at 24 right now.

Now, are you still wanting Art submissions from everyone Celestial?

And I am once again going to uncover Celsie's plans.
Mostly because they are retarded and I'm the only one to actually care.
