I just want to hear everybody elses opinion before I start adding my 2 cents.
I was very happy to see this come out.
The old Valiant comics have a special place in my heart. I'm so happy to see Shadowman come out. I brought the first issue right away.
Here is to hoping that Eternal Warrior gets another comic book.
I'm not sure this will get a second life though.

Archer and Armstrong is really, really good
as is X-O Manowar
X-O Manowar is the next best book, and while I think there's a chance for it to waffle now that Venditti seems to be getting more DC work. Plus Ninjak seems to be a bit too plot powered, and where you get a sense of learning with Aric it just gets pushed aside to show super James Bond ninja dude. But it also had Aric punch a grenade into a dude's chest and explode him, which is something even the Expendables can't pull off.
Archer and Armstrong I don't care for but not because of the story it's telling, it seems to be very well put together, it just doesn't grab my attention.
i have nothing to add other than that, sorry.
The first 3 or 4 issues of X-O Manowar were decent, thought. And, while Harbinger opened strong, I think I'll follow it in trades just to save some money.
Also, I don't think the new Valiant has the rights to Dr. Solar. Didn't Dark Horse publish a Man of the Atom mini last year?
Valiant doesn't really get talked up too much around here, but I think they have proven themselves worthy of standing tall with the big companies. Now that their initial arcs for most of their stories are complete and the next chapters are shaping up to be even bigger, I think all the books are above average, especially compared to the big two.
Also, here's some sort of metric BC put together to show how Valiant's sales stack up. Obviously, the high numbers for their low-end sellers, combined with their smaller list of monthly titles gives them a big boost when stacked up like that. But only having five books in the Valiant universe and the interconnected story lines means more people pick up all of them (like I do).
Valiant does not currently hold the rights to any of the Gold Key characters (Solar, Turok, Magnus:Robot Fighter).
It could go off the rails at some point, but it really is the model to follow, for upstart shared-universes.

Everyone needs to pick up Harbinger at the very least. That book is incredible.
And Shadowman had the best opening arc of the relaunch.
I'm picking up Shadowman 5 today. Whoo hoo..The return of Master Darque! The tattoed necromancer is back. I can't wait for him to wreak havok on the Valient Universe.

I still can't believe all the people gushing about Shadowman.
Either you're really young or I'm really old.
Dr. Mirage was also the first comic my sister really got into. She loved the fact that he was immaterial and his wife had to beat everyone up.
I know right? Voodoo, Horror, and a superhero that plays the sax? It hits all my sweet spots. I also love the new Shadowman's new look.
It's not like fandom would ever gush about obscure comic book characters? Right?
I guess I am the number one fan because I'm his only fan.
Also: The new Doctor Mirage is a Woman now.

EDIT: Now that I'm reading up on them on wikipedia and the reviews on amazon (where at least each first trade is less than $10), I'm thinking of trying out either X-O Manowar or Shadowman right away. Harbinger sounds good but I'm not sure I wanna dive into that right away. Thoughts?
I'd start with Archer and Armstrong. It's got a good Odd Couple thing going on, as well as strong art and character writing. Very fun and accessible.
Harbinger started off really interesting, with a protagonist that abused his powers, and seemed to be on a slippery slope to villainy. Since then, it's gotten less interesting, and a bit more conventional. But, if you're looking for a book about some superpowered teenagers on a roadtrip, you could do a lot worse.

If you like Horror/Voodoo mixed in with superhero tales, you would like Shadowman.
The necromancer Master Darque is pretty bad ass both in the old and new VCU ( Valiant Comic Universe)
Valiant Comics was first founded by Jim Shooter who wrote for both DC and Marvel.
(Not to mention Jim was a former editior and chief at Marvel Comics.)

All of the current books have solid writing and art, with their shares of ups and downs. In all, Valiant's offerings are pretty strong and varied enough for many different tastes.

Go for it! It should be a fun read. I really liked reading them back in their last series.

Is the Harbinger Wars story that's going on a true crossover? Like does each issue lead into the next between the books (Harbinger, Bloodshot, Harbinger Wars), or is Harbinger Wars 1-4 a contained story with the other two books involved being tie-ins? If that question makes sense.
