Accessory to make phone ring more noticeable

NeurotikaNeurotika Registered User regular
Can anyone recommend a device that will make my Android's ring more noticeable?

More specifically, I'm headed to my first GenCon since we had the kid, so I'd like to avoid missing calls/texts.

I envision something that clips to a bag or strap and flashes in response to calls/texts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are some companies that sell bracelets that pair with your phone via Bluetooth and vibrate/make noise/show info on a screen in response to calls/texts on your phone. ThinkGeek sold one for a long time that I had my eye on, but it looks like they don't carry it anymore. Try Googling "Bluetooth bracelet" or maybe "smart watch" and see what you find?

One of my friends has an app that makes her phone flash when it rings. That might help if you keep the phone in a semi visible place

and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them
but they're listening to every word I say

Is setting the phone to vibrate out of the question?

Eh, I never notice vibration when I'm walking. Con centers are loud and rarely have awesome reception, so I've just dealt with missing calls for a whole week. But I'll be hounding this thread for more details. If that bracelet is real, I want it!

Too bad Google Glass isn't mainstream yet; this seems like a perfect use case.

Oh, wow, that type of thing is basically exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

In my experience those sorts of things need to be extremely close to your phone to work all the time.

Maybe something like this that's bluetooth? http://www.amazon.com/Vibration-Alert-Bluetooth-Headset-bluetooth-Bracelet/dp/B00A73J6VE/ref=pd_sim_sbs_cps_4

    Make sure your phone qualifies:
Compatibility: Only works with 800 - 1600 MHz GSM network cell phones.

yeah, that appears to work based on "GSM buzz"... so even if you do have a GSM phone, it will also light up for any other GSM phone near by

you should look for a bluetooth device that pairs specifically with your phone

a bluetooth wristband is the simplest:

but you may want to consider a simple bluetooth headset - they all ring or say "incoming call", and you just keep them in your ear all day...
