Oh god yes sex. That totally helps

Yes yes, Dubh, your sex life is actually interesting.

    God, we get it already
Just because you fuck like a wet blanket don't mean you gotta act like one, dogg.
    I'm just jealous

I don't think you should be

Maybe in a few months I'll have a different story
But I sometimes wish Becca would be willing to fuck other people on occasion just to have more and better sex

I've been finding video games to be less of a help lately, because I'm not really doing anything creative so it takes less and less time playing a game for me to start to feel guilty/like I'm wasting time

my main, and best form of self care though? Dogs. Dogs dogs dogs. At least once an evening I sit on the floor and just rub the dogs and play with them and have them climb in my lap and everything is good

years ago, when I found out my mother's lung cancer had metastasized to her brain, I went home, hugged my dog, and cried for the first time since she was originally diagnosed because it was the only way I could cope

    god damn I love dogs

Karate was also a really good way to make me feel better about everything. No matter how hard it was to drag myself to class, I always left feeling good, if sore. I really should stop screwing around and get back to that.

oh I feel I should mention that my Mom kicked that cancer's ass so while it was super rough at the time it had a happy ending

going on 8 years cancer-free now

I've been extremely stressed out lately and this reminded me of something calming I've been meaning to do. Just listen to music and put together a nanoblock set I bought a while back.

I did kung fu and some other martial arts during college, and it actually did a lot to reduce the severity of my night terrors.

It actually resulted in dreams where I would be pursued by some ancient horror, and then I would turn around and kick its ass.

But I recently remembered how much I love reading

So I've been reading pretty constantly, just tearing through books

Also I'm getting a haircut before PAX, that will make me feel good too

Yeah, I wasn't really upset at all 'cause I know you're not the habit of being a jerk

My eyes might have narrowed a bit, though, so I'd watch my step if I were you

Good news for today: My food stamps benefits came in and we don't have worry about affording nutrition for awhile!

Bad news for the week: My insurance may NOT cover hair removal that is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by my surgeon. So hooray to Blue Cross for finding a way to shit on my parade. Technically, I'm supposed to have my hair removed in select places 18 weeks before surgery, because of how hair growth cycles.

So I may need to push surgery back another few months to match whenever I can afford the fucking procedure. I'm walking into a school year already stressed from the Summer, and Glob I feel like crying all of a sudden.

    Things I do:

    1. When the weather's nice, or I'm having a long talk with a friend, I'll smoke. This is the South and I don't have a lot of close friends, so those things don't happen often, but when they do it helps me get zen/meditate/pray/whatever I feel like at the time. Tamping down the tobacco, smoking it slow, gives my hands and the back part of my mind something to do so it's easier to focus on the moment. Tobacco only -- my job has random drug testing.

    2. Write. I don't do this nearly as often as I should, really. Usually I'll get a couple-hundred words out and that'll do the trick.

    3. I play high-cooperation games with my sister. Left 4 Dead is our favorite, though we've also done Monaco, Resident Evil 5, etc. Gives us both a feeling of standing back-to-back for a while, which I think helps both of us cope.

I make sure I get to the gym every weekday, at lunch time if possible. It really really helps keep me sane at work and home.

But I also make sure that I keep my weekends gym-free because getting overtired sucks and I'd rather spend it on fun lazy times with Nat.

yes i just saw banksy's doco

I drink, play video games, and spend time outdoors.

My family has a plot of land on a nearby island that I retreat to when things start to feel oppressively shitty. I've been going there a lot, lately.

I like when I can to go down to the park and eat lunch.

Slacklining by yourself can be a pretty zen, mellow activity.

    Climbing is fun.

If you are in a good mindset. A few drinks by yourself doing silly things is a good way to relax.

    People are cool too.

I've also found that going to live shows does wonders for my mental well being. There are a few shows I've gone to this year that, after attending, my mood was elevated for literally weeks on end. Not having those to go on makes things rough.

I nap. A lot. Sleep shuts my brain down and stops it from going haywire with 50k thoughts happening simultaneously. It's a double edged sword. I need stimulants for my adhd and if I forget my prozac it ain't fun either. So with me there are 3 mental states. 1. No real lights on upstairs. 2. I'm calm, focussed and relaxed. All lights that need to be on are on. 3. Every light on the house is on, plus the decorations for christmas and halloween are flashing away with bad german disco music on loop.

Sleep can sometimes preemptively stop this. The same thing happens when I'm with @Gatsby, the negative bits of my brain just shut down. He's just the best. I need to work on my self care though, its where my dreaded 'Spergers comes through

    oh yeah, cooking.

Focusing all my energy on cooking elaborate things and then eating them helps to stave off anxiety for a bit.
