Good: Practically zero crime apart from a little bit of vandalism. Awesome schools. Easy to get around. Every third person has money coming out of their ears. Just a shit load of hell to raise.

Bad: Dickhead police. Stupid ordinances. LifeChurch.

The bad: Haha, there isn't any bad.

As far as I'm concerned all small towns are like "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson

From what I recall it was fuckin awesome.

Lots of action and stuff, and you even get to watch children from the audience race boats or something and laugh at them.

Also you can't go wrong with guys saying "Arrrr!" a lot and giving you food.

When you wear white after Labor Day.

The only section of Long Beach that I've been to, is right by the Belmont shores pool, I think that that's what it's called. It's the pool used in the 84 Olympics. It's pretty nice, and the surrounding area is also nice.

Homeless people are rude like rude titties are rude. They don't go somewhere to hide when they sleep. They sleep just where ever, sidewalk, intersection, front door.
I've smelled urine way too much while walking around the streets.
Lastly, just today my job said, "Remember how we hired you to come in at 8am everyday? Well now we need you to come in at 6am everyday." I may have to quit

    OH HO HO HO.
    You're never gonna survive here.

That's what I was thinking. Culture shock from Santa Barbara is going to be considerable.

I lived in Los Angeles (Atwater Village, kinda south of Glendale near Fletcher & San Fernando) for almost four years. I don't know how it is for you west siders (I rarely went west of Highland), but the east side can be a dirty, nasty place. When I moved to LA it was about mid-september and I coughed for two weeks until I got used to the air. Sometimes the only thing worse than your job is driving there. It's easy to make friends, but many of them will turn out to be socal flakes who you can't count on. The women are good looking but it seems like most of them are completely out of their minds. You often won't know your neighbors... except for the ones that you wish you didn't.

I did have a great time there for a couple of years though... living in Los Angeles in your early twenties is awesome. There's a fun music scene and if you've got the money, you can find just about anything to do. And the food is goddamn amazing. Some people make San Francisco out to be the end all be all of California... LA has it all over SF in so many ways. Except for the ballpark, SF's is better.
