The question mark makes me feel like it's broquivalent to the face palm, but the fist bump makes me question that.

    Sabrotage.

    Not cool. That's cultural abropriation.

Maybe it's a mixture. Like a punch into your own face.

I've kind of feel like it is an in-between like and awesome, kind of like "bro? bro!" kind of thing, ya know?

It's a question mark because you need to compliance of your bro to complete a proper fistbump. This is why sometimes the question mark is skipped, and it becomes a punch on the shoulder.

Also if we keep making shitty bro puns our bro?s make be taken away, a la Wii puns. So keep it to your A material, guys.

    I'm not really a fan.
For one, the current icon looks to me like an upside-down "Like" but with the actual thumbs-down snipped off. That, plus the question mark and the occasional request for a "Dislike" button to go along with "Agree" and "Awesome" made me think at first that it was intended as (mild) reproach - like, "Really, bro? Really? Did you have to go there/say that?"
Second, without going into too much detail, I have never identified as a "bro" or had much patience for classic-slash-stereotypical "bro" behavior. Which now has me seriously questioning my continued participation on these forums, as it seems that most here have absolutely no problem with the label and embrace it unironically.

You're taking this way too seriously.

Also, why are you assuming people are using it unironically? It seems mostly the opposite to me.

I want to live your life where being indirectly, ironically identified by association as a "bro" is apparently the worst thing anyone ever says about you. At least I have to assume that's the case since you're taking it this seriously.

You have to realize that you're actually thinking that people from a forum on the internet mostly about video games are embracing the label of 'bro' unironically. You're saying most of a whole forum of nerds... genuinely think they are bros and genuinely participate in bro-like behavior, rather than using bro-like language to make fun of the people that typically used to ostracize nerds when they were younger. ... I suspect you may be taking this joke too seriously. WAAAAYYY too seriously. :P

Honestly it took way longer for someone to be preposterously offended by something that doesn't really effect their life at all than I was expecting. There is no change so trivial that it won't cause someone to drop a drama bomb and threaten to leave.

Well, to be fair, Some of my online friends thinks the forum "bro" thing is serious.
Which I then had to explain it is not, I don't think I was believed though. Granted, these same friends have a tendency to dislike Penny Arcade in general because of various contraversies. (and knowing about PA and its forums etc, ONLY though said contraversies. ....sigh ..... .)

So *spectators* of the forums are displeased/concerned about this?

Man I need to consult the bylaws (I believe its covered in § 51 "Seriously bro?") to figure out how much their input matters.

Use those moments as an opportunity to determine how much time you want to spend around the people doing it.

    I unironically self-identify as a bro, and I don't self-identify as a "gamer".

How does that make you feel?

Ha! if it was one of those types of people, I wouldn't care less! But nah, in this case, it was folks who are cool and supportive in other ways, hence the reason I got a little depressed. And Why I could sorta understand where Commander Zoom was coming from.
