This is just reminding me of a sketch from Mr. Show about TV edits of swear-ridden movies

it was funny stuff, though I can't remember any specifics except for footage of a thumbs up badly edited over someone giving the finger

That makes me wonder... in at least one occasion on "Buffy" Spike flashes the rude "V" sign... did that get blurred when the show was on TV in the UK? Was it even on in the UK?

Also, someone needs to link to the classic SNL skit with Chevy Chase and Richard Pryor... it's about a job interview or something.

Holding up your pointer finger with your middle finger is considered rude in the UK?

    I didn't know that

    That's because Brits hate peace.

Evidence: The French and Indian War. They couldn't pick just one.

Hot Fuzz has a TV version in the extras as well.

Best line is when the priest yells "Peas and Rice!"

i saw simon pegg being interviewed on conan, and he talked about how stupid he finds the whole concept. so when they get asked to censor stuff they come up with the most ridiculous shit they possibly can.

    also, mallrats:
all it took was a fat chronic blunt

    becomes

all it took was a fat cruddy punch

The edits of Die Hard 2 are great mainly because the guy dubbing over Bruce Willis sounds nothing like Bruce Willis.

I always like Cheech and Chong's next movie movie where they go to the guy's Diamond feild and the aliens teach them how to fly. There's also a small sub plot about a day care or something? I havn't seen it in years but it was great when I did.

I remember catching Private Parts on USA Network once.

The movie was so censored that at times it would literally pause, and Howard Stern would come out and explain what was going on in the scene. Then he would say something like "By the way, this chick is really hot when she's not completely blurred out, so go buy the video".

They cut so much out it wasn't even worth watching any more.

The CBC was cool though, totally uncensored when they played it.

Oh shit, the TV version of Ferris is a classic!

i like the tv version of the fifth element, it actually got better in parts

there's this one scene where bruce willis is talking to his ex-comrade

he goes 'urgh, i just found a picture of you'

    'how do i look?'

    'like shit.'

in the edit he just goes 'urgh' again and it's about ten times funnier

Censored Kill Bill was hilarious at parts.

Where Sophie gets her arm cut off and blood is spraying out as if she was trying to put out a large fire?

Still happens on TV. Except there's no blood. She's just swinging a stump around, and then in the next scene the floor is red.

I was watching bad boys the other day. I don't understand why they show violent films if they're going to edit everything out. That or, apparently when you fire a gun at anything other than a car driving off it somehow forces the editor to cut to something else and people just stop showing up in the movie.

"Cheech and Chong's Next Movie", Cheech's cousin Red comes down form the mountains or something, and in the original he found a field full of pot, and he and Chong go on high adventures it ended with them going to the pot field and getting abducted by aliens and given space coke. In the TV edit Red found a diamond feild, and aliens still abduct them, but it's to teach them to fly.

The last scene ofe the movie before it becauses animated Cheech snorts soem of the coke goes all Frankenstein busts through the wall of thier house and falls out into space. the TV version when Chong gets back "Man we saw aliens, and they had hot chicks!" it cuts to Cheech busting through the wall, it made no sense but was awesome.

The I HATE PEOPLE sign was the original. They didn't want to put that word on a sign and send Willis out into the world with it, so the TV version is the unedited one.

I hate the bikini drawing thing. They did it for a TV version of Showgirls that I watched about 5 minutes of before I realized that the boobies were so close, yet so far away.
