If by some miracle treacheries don't come - we have Kat, (maybe) Adama and definitely Cain drawing Leadership for Restore Order to cancel out the skill check abilities.

Cutfang has conditional orders to play Tactics 0 - Quick Thinking into the skill check. blahmcblah remains to make the final submission for the check.

    Turn 23: Romo Lampkin (blahmcblah)

    Crisis Step: Legendary Discovery

Skill Check [14] Tactics + Piloting
Pass: Place this card next to the Kobol Objective card. It counts as 1 distance.
Fail: -1 Food and destroy 1 raptor.

Investigative Committee requires players' contributions be made face up.

    Skill Check Contributions
    Destiny Deck - 2 cards
Gaius Baltar, Daybreak ver. (Phyphor) - 0 cards
Louanne "Kat" Katraine (Grunt's Ghosts) - 1 card: Piloting 4 - Maximum Firepower
Lee Adama, Daybreak ver. (Tenek) - 1 card: Tactics 6 - Scout for Fuel
Helena Cain (Professor Phobos) - 0 cards
    D'Anna Biers (Kaneski) - 0 cards
Sherman "Doc" Cottle (Cutfang) - 1 card: Tactics 0 - Quick Thinking
    Romo Lampkin (blahmcblah) - 2 cards: Tactics 3 - Strategic Planning, Tactics 5 - A Second Chance

    Tactics 0 - Quick Thinking
    Tactics 3 - Strategic Planning
    Tactics 5 - A Second Chance
Tactics 6 - Scout for Fuel

    Piloting 1 - Evasive Maneuvers
    Piloting 4 - Maximum Firepower

    Treachery 3 - A Better Machine

    Current Total: 14 + 5 - 3 = 16.

Quick Thinking allows blahmcblah the option of taking a card of strength 3 or less (excepting the Quick Thinking) out of the check and into his hand. A Better Machine will add two Treachery cards to the Destiny Deck, after which the Destiny Deck will be shuffled. blahmcblah, in what order will you resolve the Skill Check abilities?

2 extra treachery vs 1 distance is the choice. Easy.

Edit: Ignore me, I don't know how subtraction works.

Hm, it'd be neat to have an Evasive Maneuvers in my hand just in case shit goes down, but I think not having two more Treachery in the DD would be smart.

Resolve Quick Thinking first, remove A Better Machine.

Certainly looks like. Poor Phyphor. The only thing that can screw us up now is crisis timing, but with the pilots in brig, and (hopefully) State of Emergency/XO on me for Civilians/Counter-XO on Cain for the PEW PEW, the last problem will be wiped and we can slow-advance our way or FTL out.

Only other alternative is GG is playing a reeeeeaaaaalllly long game because he thinks that's the right move (you can do way more damage after revealing as a Cylon than you can just sitting in the Brig and pretending to be human, and much of the time more than even being a very convincing human outside the Brig), or is just trolling. Both of those scenarios are highly unlikely, though.

Naaah...not by now. And if there is... even if they reveal now, any damage they can possibly do has already been offset by their positive contributions.

The only risk I can see is civilian/pursuit spam and Crisis draws before we can defuse it. But, we got a solution lined up, so... yeah. I think Phyphor's worst possible for us action would be to rig pursuit for Civs and force CAG to place more Civs - in this case, there will be a Civ in every space area and my SoE/XO activations will be spent protecting, rather than escorting... but with our pilots with fistfuls of red cards, as well as getting out of brig with SoE - we can take it.

    Turn 24: Gaius Baltar (Phyphor)

Movement Step: Phyphor remains at Basestar Bridge.
Action Step: Activate Basestar Bridge. With the first part of his activation, Phyphor performs Jump Preparation / Pursuit Track manipulation. The Pursuit Track advances to Level 4, Professor Phobos must place two civilian ships, one in each of two areas not already containing a civilian ship. (Since there are eight Raiders on the board, the damage Galactica option will automatically hit; Phyphor has been sent two damage tokens and will choose one to resolve.)

With exactly 8 raiders, shouldn't it fail to damage with an 8 rolled on the die?

Give @Tenek a thumbs up. I do believe this is the case. Given our luck lately, watch another thing go wrong for Phyphor... ;)

    Damn evening cliffhangers...

So... Kat/Adama. Can't let you out. Not with this many Civs on the board. We can't risk 2 things: a bad crisis that forces Phobos to discard his SoE, and a basestar/raider activation until civs are off the board. SoE will let you both out. So chill, stock up on high-value and piloting cards, draw your tactics/politics for the brig checks on SoE and we'll have plenty for you to do next cycle. Brig, good of humanity, game tactics, blah blah...

The damage only fails if you roll less than the number of raiders. You can't roll less than 8 on a d8, although I don't remember how SP or Calculations interact with that.

  • Options
    TenekTenek Registered User regular
No, it only succeeds if you roll less. I think the idea is "raiders all shoot Galactica, but smooth out all the d8's into a single roll". Or something along those lines. SP and Calculations would work as usual (but if there were 9 raiders, it would be guaranteed since the rolls are capped at 8 regardless of modifiers)

Oh, I see, reading is fundamental. I shouldn't post right after napping, and a die should be rolled. SP?

We need 9 raiders to guarantee the damage and there are only 8, so we need to roll the die and hope for an 8.

Ah, whoops. I guess I misread things as well. Making the roll now... it's a hit.

    Turn 24: Gaius Baltar (Phyphor)

Action Step: Professor Phobos places one civilian ship in Port-Bow (5 o'clock) and one ship in Port-Quarter (7 o'clock). For the second part of his action, Phyphor makes a combined attack with the Raiders; the result is a hit. Phyphor draws two Galactica damage counters and resolves one: -1 Fuel. The other damage counter is shuffled back into the damage counter stack.

XO on Cain is fine for that. D'Anna is probably an OK choice since she could escort 2 or 3 civvies. I suspect the two of you are the best XO choices for my turn and Kat's so we could just do it in either order. Nuking the basestar might also work, with an SP that's 50/50 of taking some raiders and 3/8 of getting 6 of them. Plus it would screw up the damage option.

Assuming neither of us busts out, we have 3 turns to work with before a crisis, so at least we have some time to plan.
