Antimatter what is your opinion on the Gorillaz album The Fall?
I think it is underrated and I feel like it is a crazy-good capture of what traveling across America feels like.
i did not enjoy the fall, but it wasn't a "full" album
i'm grumpy that at least two albums worth of material that was unused in plastic beach that is unreleased
I love Damon Albarn's interpretation that each of the four Gorillaz albums come from one particular character over the others
Gorillaz is Russel's
Demon Days is Noodle's
Plastic Beach is Murdoc's
The Fall is 2D's
from that perspective, I think the Fall's nature as a meandering, introspective group of songs works perfectly
I heard that, but I honestly think it's kinda a cop-out. The Fall is weird to me because it feels like a Damon Albarn album more than a Gorillaz album; it is almost a literal account of his tour of North America in the Fall of 2010. A lot of the sarcasm, pop-sensibilities, and collaborative pieces of what make a Gorillaz album were absent, which is not necessarily bad, but makes something that is super different from the other Gorillaz music.
Like I can see how the band that made Rock the House made DARE or how the band that made EL Mañana went on to do To Binge, but apart from maybe Doncamatic there is really not very much linking the Plastic Beach music to The Fall in my mind. Albarn could have released the Fall completely separate from the Gorillaz name and I would not have batted an eye.

this is where i admit again that i took the name Antimatter from a dream where i was a member of the x-men
i was a mutant with the power to generate light and dark blasts (i don't get it either, i think it was like i could generate energy and antimatter)
