The Infinity Gem at the end - what was it? I had the vague impression we had been introduced to it earlier in the film, but can't think of when or how.

And, when Odin is talking about the backstory, he mentions that while the Aether is fluid, most of these ancient weapons / artifacts take the form of stones. Plays nicely into the GOTG stinger.
the Infinity Stone at the end was the Aether, or maybe just refers to the vessel they contained it in

It was the Aether, just contained in a smaller version of the thing Jane found.

gotcha. That was my first thought (given the coloring) but then I wasn't completely sure, so...

    thanks!

I've never really watched it's always sunny actually

    I

    Should do that

    yes.

    yes you should.

it's all on Netflix, get to it.

season eight isn't actually on Netflix yet for some awful reason, considering the DVDs have been released and that's usually the timetable for that sort of stuff, I thought

also Netflix unfortunately has the episodes of season one and two in their broadcast order instead of their intended order, which makes certain events in season two chronologically inconsistent

which matter basically not at all but drives me nuuuuts

Actually, something in Thor I was unclear on
how did they recover the Aether anyway?
seemed like the bulk of it was still with Malekith

I like the early seasons of Always Sunny but then they started focusing more and more on awkward humor and I had to stop watching.

Seasons 2, 3, and about half of 4 are the absolutely incredible eps I feel I can recommend that will work without much investment (and also were mostly written by the the main trio along with David Hornsby)

I dunno if I agree it turns to awkward humor, so much as it starts focusing in on how downright weird and eccentric they each are

I think it's still really excellent stuff, but it's more of an acquired taste, I guess. I took me a bit to really dig it again.

Well to be fair I liked The Rock, Bad Boys 2 and Pain and Gain. I didn't find The Island to be horrible. That's the best thing I can say about Bay. Oh and I guess he did give us one of the best movie blooper reels.

    thanks!

    I really, really like the
consolidation of items of cosmic power into Infinity Gems, and the way they're going about introducing them.

It simplifies things, and is really, really effective at getting across
how powerful they all are in their own right so that the legwork is pretty much done by the time we get to Guardians.

those were "Non-Aligned Indigenous Lifefoms", or "NAILs"

basically they were neutrals that had left the planet during the war and came back when it ended, angry at autobot and decepticon alike
