I can't believe I hadn't thought of it, but the different Secret Santas in these very forums constantly make me smile, year in and year out.
It's just really amazing to see how many strangers are willing to do something to brighten up someone's holidays. In theory they shouldn't work, but I'm pretty sure the number of people who actually don't receive gifts is miniscule (and someone always steps up to gift them).
The threads themselves are just fantastic to go through, makes my holidays better every year.

Some of the best gifts I received were Secret Santa from this forum. This includes the Grimlock transformer and Mal's gun replica, both of which are still central pieces of my nerd shelf, and the line-following robot I received last year, which I busted out just last week to play with during a date.
For some reason, those people cutting the netting away from the whale, just reminded me of the birds that pick food out of the teeth of hippos.
If you watch the full video those people took of themselves they actually were at that for like an hour, just pulling and cutting. When they found the whale it was so wrapped up they didn't think they were going to be able to get it free, and it was nearly to the point where it was too tired to get itself up for a breath.
Some jerk left a note on this former soldier now a waitress's bill, saying they didn't tip because she's gay.
Morales said the support from customers and even non-customers dropping by to donate the amount of the tip for the original check has already topped $2,000 and is still coming in. The money will go to the Wounded Warrior project, which helps severely injured veterans. Morales' employer has decided to match every donation to the cause.

No, it's bad when your first thought is, "A kid with leukemia? I bet I could take him".

Thanks for sharing that.
It was touching, and adorable, and then I got to the baby elephant.
Tears everywhere!

I'll easily admit that I was tearing up at the end. Amazing, amazing story.
This one has such an infuriating conclusion.
