Need to backup a really big source to smaller media automatically.

Couldn't think of what to search for in Google, so here I am.

I have almost 2TB of data I have to pull off my server to swap in some other data. Unfortunately I only have three 500GB external drives and one 750GB drive, and while cumulatively this is enough space to store everything it would still require me to do a bunch of planing to determine what gets copied where etc. Not something I want to do. Is there a way to, after plugging in all the external drives, automatically copy all this data to these multiple drives, with the copy falling over to the next drive when the working one is full?

Should specify this is in Windows Home Server 2011 (2008 r2 equiv).

Lifehacker says you can do something called spanning or possibly Just a Bunch Of Disks (JBOD). linky.

edit - also obviously raid is an option if you have a raid controller.
