Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and the whole pin thing. I recently bought the Killer Instinct Ultimate Pin Edition and I think it's pretty sweet. So the book comes with two pins to start off the collection... Now how do I obtain the rest? Do I buy em somewhere or go to a convention? I have no idea.

The Character Pins are easy. You buy them. They will be in the Penny Arcade store, and one is released each month.

The Achievement Pins...we don't know yet. There will be an achievement each month, and upon completion you will get a discount code for the PA store, so the Pin is free (shipping and taxes still need to be paid, so combine each Pin with something else to make it worthwhile.)

I think one thing that will be useful is organising for the KI Achievements. Sharing tips on how to best complete them could be handy, particularly when the deadlines for the monthly achievements starts getting close.

I just redeemed my game code on xbox.com since I haven't picked up my system yet, but I don't know if the game is in my library or not. Agh, the suspense is killing me!

Just to add on to what PedroAsani said, the Engagement Pins will also be available for purchase at the PA store as well. So even if you don't have an Xbone then fear not, you'll still be able to acquire all the other pins for the set.

If anyone has their Xbox ready, I am happy to play a few rounds

I'm enjoying KI alot. I'm what you would consider an average player of fighting games. My skills usually depend on how easy it is to perform the more technical moves, and I feel ki was built for the lower than pro player. I enjoy fighting games and I love watching professionals play them, but I know I'll never be as good as those guys haha.

working together to complete the pin challenges is a great idea.

Guys and girls, the registration page is for the Pins promotion is up. There are some more details on how it works and all the legal disclaimers you could think of. If you can't register now, don't worry, the registration page will be up forever and we'll link to it for each challenge pin.

After the whole ordeal with the Microsoft Store cancelling my order, I decided to bite the bullet and grab one from eBay before the price skyrockets any further. May regret it later, but for now, I think I made the safe choice.

So... since we're all going to have a pretty deep investment in playing well for the pin challenges, who's up for the idea of monthly Pinny Pals tournaments? Just for fun, nothing super big, but... something to help remind us to keep playing the game and improving ourselves? Additionally, is anyone else looking into arcade stick options?

I was thinking about an arcade stick today actually. The bumpers on the gamepad are abysmal for fighting games, same problem I had with SF4 on 360. In killer instinct RB is heavy punch and LB is all 3 punches, mainly used for ultras.....ULTRAS ffs.... Since the pin program will go for the first season, up until July next year, I would say an arcade stick would be a decent investment.

currently I only know of the madcatz tournament edition fight stick for Xbox one, and the preorders are sold out atm

also yes, very much into a pin pal tourney. Out of curiosity who else is already playing KI?

Slowly learning to use the somewhat arcane interface that is the Xbox One Dashboard, it occurred to me that we should also make use of the DVR feature to share any particularly exciting moments.

Remember that you can still pick up brand new copies of the Pin Ultimate Edition in Microsoft brick-and-mortar stores. They are available starting today, but with a very limited number per store.

Consider what's worth it, an Xbox ($500 +$50 game) or 250 for all the pins over time I think was calculated, but then you won't have an Xbox...

I'd say if you do intend on getting an Xbox at some point, its worth it getting it now instead of buying all the pins and then a box

These brain squirrels are real people, and they're pissing me off.

Also, I went and checked out my local MS store and they didn't even know what I was talking about, so no dice there... yet. If anyone happens to see a copy somewhere, I'd love to buy it from you + shipping or something.

I got mine last friday from the MS store. I was thrilled because I just had gotten out of spinal fusion surgery the day before, and need a good pick me up. Unfortunately I didn't get any pins with it. I double checked the package and the envelope it came in and i'm thinking that maybe one of the nurses threw them away by accident somehow. I'm pretty bummed about it, but still happy that I have the pin board. The only thing is that the place I pre ordered my Xbox One had given away my pre order a week prior to launch and had to spend that money on day care and babysitters, since i'm confined to a bed for the better half of 3 months. I sent a customer service ticket to Pinny Arcade and i'm currently in a live chat with MS to see about replacing them. If they were on ebay, I would just snag them on there...but you can't get them without also buying the ultimate edition.

I may end up just buying another ultimate edition on ebay, but i'd rather use that as a last resort. Still stoked about having it, even without the pins or an Xbox One to play KI on. Looking forward to more pins :P

My suggestion is now to call your local MS Store and inquire about it. I confirmed that most stores should receive units by end of day today.

The Salem NH store. I might take a ride back up tomorrow night, or maybe I could just pick up a damn phone and call... there's another store not that far from me either I could try too if necessary.

Well, i took the plunge and ordered myself a fight stick from amazon... The first season goes until July, and i do intend to work for my pins and only buy them as a last resort if i dont achieve whatever goals they put out for them. So i should get a good use out of it. Not to mention im starting to get a little addicted to this game...brain squirrels migrating? or expanding their territory..........

Currently my main is Jago as i feel safest online with him having done the first half of the tutorials as him, trying out sabrewulf on the side.

I got my xbox one and purchased the ultra edt. for $40 so I had all the content available. The next day I received my pinny arcade pin ultimate edtition w the two starter pins. Inside is a code for a full content killer instinct. I wanted to give my gf the code, however I apparently need this code to activate. Can I give her the code yet still use it to activate on my end, or am I s.o.l.?

Well if its activated on your gf's xbox and live account then you'd have to do the pin challenges on there. Not sure if you can just login to her account on your xbox so you can do them personally. Whatever the deal is, you definitely need that code for future use.

While the directly Pinny Arcade related challenges haven't kicked off just yet, We've still got regular time sensitive challenges that need to be checked off. I am the only person I know who has access to an Xbox One and Killer Instinct, and I suspect that this might be the case for quite a few other Pin Pals. As a result, I'm going to start posting the challenges in here as they appear (or in it's own thread, if it is deemed worthy) so maybe we can set down some plans to get together and knock them out.

Same here, no friends with an Xbox just yet. Do you know if those challenges add to gamerscore like achievements or are they different, I think I did the earlier one which was just to do an ultra online, think i got some kp for it. I will add you soon, I am Ayefkay

Well... Looks like its currently (seemingly) impossible to host and invite / join a game with players on your friends list. Vid and i tried for a little while and just could not get it to work. The option to host a game is there but the invite prompt either doesn't appear, or it does and the other player doesn't get added to the game after they've accepted... A quick google found that this problem is very common, and you have to be lucky to join...

We were using the xbox live party thing, which is admittedly kind of cool. Its basically a chat room that friends can join regardless of what game they're playing.

So the problem is within killer instinct itself, I think, and looks like there's no way around it until a fix is made for it.

Terrible oversight from double helix and MS, and overall a big step back from the interface of the 360. Everything on the xbox one feels severely over designed, like they tried to make it simple enough for kinect voice commands, which turned the normal UI into a convoluted mess... Hopefully these fixes will be adressed soon, especially before the pin challenges...By all means though if anyone finds a work around please let us know.

ONLINE MATCH INVITATIONS:
User States: Once invitations are sent to friends, friends are not able join even though they have accepted the invite.
Possible Resolve: (Compliments to @Weezleram)
1) Invite the person you want to play to a party
2) Once they join, set up a match in Exhibition by picking Host/Invite
3) That will send them an invite notification which they can accept, which will bring them into your match.

Note: It may be helpful to check that your NAT is open.
Steps to open your NAT: On the XB1 dashboard, click the menu button, go to settings, select network settings. I think the first page shows your NAT (Strict or Open). You want it to say Open for best results when playing multiplayer. You may want to forward the ports used by the Xbox and/or put the IP of your XB1 in your router DMZ.

Managed to connect to another player last, hopefully that magic can be held until I can get into a match with a few more Pin Pals. Anyone else want to get in on a few matches tonight? The days are counting down until the Friend Stomper challenge ends!

I picked up the Killer Instinct Ultra Fan Book today... there's some pretty interesting costume spoilers in here! Have any of you guys seen these yet?

Looks like every character (even Sadira?!) is getting "retro" costumes that harken back to the old Killer Instinct style.

Man, I can't wait to see more updates to the game. And maybe some other stick options, something not in the range of $200...

Challenges will be zero Gamerscore achievements. Basically.

But everyone knows that pins > Gamerscore any day ;-)
