Might I propose the more culturally-relevant and more widely-applicable "Feels" button?

This is where the "Bro?" button would come in, because you'd understand that the reason I pressed it instead of "Agree" is because I disagree.

Well fuck, why don't we just post spongebob image macros and communicate in a needless series of gifs if we're going to go full-on Tumblr?

On my Samsung galaxy s4 using chrome mobile I cannot see the raven symbol over the avatar of a user who clicks the button. When I switch over to the full site I can see it though. Not sure if this is intended or not so I wanted to give you a heads up.

That happened to me when Bros were new. It's probably the spritesheet being cached, in which case it'll fix itself.

So actually any "Bro?"s will remain Bro?s. Ravens aren't a rename, theyre a totally new reaction.

    I am curious.

If there is a distinction between the Bro and Raven reaction, does this mean that it would still be possible to give posts a Bro reaction? Or was both the button, and the function that added Bro-points removed?

I will miss the Bro button because it came to serve a useful function, at least how some of us came to see it. Bro? as a reaction to someone's post was a response of sympathy. Not an agree, not something you'd awesome, but more like a firm hand on the shoulder like "Yeah, yeah, I know that feeling, bro, I hear you."

Like someone would make a post like "My dog died, :(" and people would Bro? that post. That's not the kind of post you click Agree on (You agree his dog died?) and definitely not the kind of post you Awesome. Bro? was the perfect reaction without having to have an entire page of "My sympathies, man" type posts.

    Now it is gone.

I don't know why we couldn't have had room in our hearts for both a Bro? and a So Raven button.

Once upon a Friday dreary, while I posted, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of gaming lore,
While I typed, keyboard tapping, suddenly changed the trappings
Of the reactions, overlapping the Bro button there before.
"Tis some coding error," I muttered, "soon it will be the Bro of yore,
    Only this, and nothing more."
Ah distinctly I remember, that black fist button in the center
And each separate member wrought their bro-ness upon the forum's decor
Eagerly I wished for the bro, but vainly IcyLiquid said no
From my posts now come sorrow, sorrow for the heretofore
For now the button says So Raven, and the Bro there before
    Has been lost forevermore

Is it the fact some people were using the bro? Button as a negative reaction the thing that led to this decision?

After a period of reflection approximately equal in length to the amount of time the "So Raven" button has been functioning on these forums, I have determined that there are a great variety and number of posts that can be accurately dubbed "so raven."

I have literally never found a case where Bro? could have been interpreted as "I disagree" so if people were using it that way then their message was probably not coming across very well.

I will also say a sympathy button would be great.

Also Rorus don't be such a curmudgeon, feels is neither a tumblr exclusive term nor particularly errant; it's a general statement of "I'm having an emotional response to this but can't really express the range of it in a meaningful way".

There comes a point at which adding a button for every possible response to a post starts to slightly counter the very point of a discussion forum.

    You're right, I hadn't considered that.

Well, Now when you come across a post that makes no sense, or was written like it was posted by a madman (or desu), then you can click the 'so raven' button instead of trying to argue with the crazy guy. I predict a lot of use in the political threads.

So far we have one for agreement, one which is basically a "Like" button, and a wild-card.

Facebook has its "Like" system, but I've always wished it had something to show sympathy. Because there's no real way to support a person without chiming in. Sometimes you just wanna give a hug or show support. Already people will just wait for a follow up post that says, i.e. "We're here for you" then agree with that post.

A reaction to show positive sympathy won't keep people from talking, and it should contribute to positive community growth.

As we move into the Year of the Raven, we should take a moment to reflect on the Bro of Yore. Can we get a Bro Retrospective? In this case, changing the forum buttons is akin to kicking an ants' nest so they can watch all the scurrying about.
