You should go to this webpage and see if there are any stores that do events in your area if you want people to play with/teach you.
For purchasing Buy.com has bricks available at a good price, which are what stores buy. You'll save money buying in bulk like that over individual packs. The Avenger's brick has 10 booster packs in it.
REV = Regular Experienced Veteran so they are your normal, non-Unique/Rare figures.
You should try to find a local shop with individual figures. You can get a lot of good characters (and playable figures) for cheap. Most of the A-list characters have cheaper versions available. I'd also look into getting an Action pack, as you'll get a complete team or a themed set. There was a danger room set featuring the X-Men, a Days of Future Past set with a Sentinel, a Hellboy set compatible with HorrorClix, and a Legion of Superheroes set.
You may also be able to find Invincible and Green Lantern collectors sets online.
Honestly, just start buying the new sets. They just dramatically updated the game, and you can get a lot of solid characters with the new DC and Marvel sets.
There was an ebay auction up for a Marvel starter set and 30 random figures, $20 with shipping. I think I might grab that and learn the game.....
I really only want to get into the game for a Deadpool figure. I have a couple warhammer/warmachine friends that want to start for similar reasons. (to own a few specific figures)
Picked up a few figures from the new Justice wave. Great sculpts and paint all around. The Crane head is fantastic. Scarecrow comes with a test tube (current under the Crane head). Unfortunately Hawkgirl only comes with a shield, so I'll have to look through the old fodder boxes for a decent weapon.
I'm passing on the armored variants, though I may just get Batman, as my love for the Adam West Batmobile knows no bounds.
I don't like the Adam Hughes Wonder Woman. It just doesn't resemble his work like the Quitely ones do.
Good point, Hughes' women have kickin' curves, which that figure definitely does not. I'll have to disagree on Quitely's figure though. It looks so stiff and lifeless, which his drawings definitely do not, decent similarities in the face, but the body is just real generic looking. But anything's better than the ones based on Ed Mcguinness's work. None of their arms are long enough, and it looks like any one of the dudes could give birth to an elephant with those hips/thighs. Day-um.

I'm trying to track down Flash and Aquaman from the Justice (Alex Ross) line, and it's a royal pain in the ass. On eBay they are either priced around $50 for "mint in box" or too much for loose.
Anyone know if DC Direct has plans to rerelease the other Justice figures besides Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern?
It's pretty impressive. The fact that it's in storage means you can palm it off as 'investment', rather than people give you strange looks for having more toys than furnishings on display.

I really like the cards in the new sets, I can't see Emperor Joker or Parasite working really well without them.
the shop didn't get them in yet

What should I do if I want to get into Marvel Heroclix?
Also, what are Ebay Auctions talking about with REV Figures?

If you just want a big Galactus figure I'd suggest this one.
That picture doesn't do it justice.

I'm sure if the boxset sells well enough, they'll release another.
On another note, two new arrivals for today..
See how they tower over the R2D2 giant pez dispenser!

You asked for it!
And you'll be getting no bedroom or office (man town) pictures. And I'm not going to touch the attic.
Isn't it exciting though? Basically I'm waiting till I purchase a home, and then I'm driving hours out of my way to raid an Ikea store.

SOOOOOOOO MANY
Wait. Is that a Steel Batallion Controller?
It is.

Fuck, how does one afford all of that?
And still eat?
Unless this has been collected over many years.
Or one sells himself on a street corner for a pretty penny.

That is, until you get your house and raid Ikea.
Very cool.
