What's the best way to grind and get Sweeper bonuses again, prior to having the final job? I know chapter 5+ outside Florem is the best, but what's the most recommended combo there?
Crescent Moon I guess? There are some job-specific combos I could do like Free Lunch + Firaga, Fire Sword + Crescent Moon, but I want to train up all the jobs, so I need to kill everyone at once using only one job worth of skills.

This works well for me:
Give somebody the Summoner ability with the "No MP cost when under 20% HP" passive from Red Mage + the "+50% more magic damage when MP ends in 0" passive from the Arcanist. Stick those on a fast character & drain their MP to 0 and lower their HP to under 20%. Have somebody else with the Knight's "Protect allies under 20% HP" just in case an enemy acts before you do. Spam summons - usually you can wipe out the entire enemy party on turn 1 with ease.

I don't think magic is bad, but some aspects of it are annoying.
I don't like how in Final Fantasy some elements are always kind of the red headed stepchild. Earth, wind, light and darkness usually don't get the full range of spells, and they're spread out on other mages besides black. When enemies run the full gamut of weaknesses in a game like this, it makes it frustrating to try to target all of them. And even when I notice some enemy is weak to holy and try it out with my white magic caster, it ends up being hardly better than regular attacking. But that's without having tried to stack up magic power and such...
I dunno, sometimes it's nice to take the easy way out and power through with regular attacks.
natural talent + crescent moon would be my recommendation, or to wait off on hardcore grinding before you have the final class b/c it makes it super ez.
Tiz: Hey Agnes, isn't Auto Aspir Blade great? You can alternate between magic and attacking and never worry about MP.
Agnes: I... guess so?
Tiz: And Edea, you could Brave and change your spell and attack in one turn! Spell Fencers are great!

"Random encounter with two Cerberi" is proving to be the most challenging battle in the game by far. Vampire Mansion is the worst place on Earth.
Maybe I could, like...
Make the whole party Valkyries with Two-Handed/Confuse Immunity/Default Guard/Slow Parry, wearing fire resistance, with Sword Magic as a secondary, and then default into Drain Sword > High Jump?
Or possibly
give up the notion of conventional warfare entirely and commit utterly to some sort of ridiculous Arcanist shenanigans?
I really don't want to have to level Black Magic for this. Maybe Convergent summons would be good? I have no goddamn clue where the mana would come from, though. You can't even drain mana off these sons of bitches without getting one-shotted.

However I basically never download anything like that anymore. I always choose download later, and go back to the main menu and close the system. You can open it any time and check the exact percentage that's been downloaded, and be all "oh it's been 5 minutes and it's 50% downloaded," etc.

for magic classes: aspir, poison all, exterminatex2. add in fairy's aid if you want
It's not that magic isn't any good, rather it's just that dark knights are absurdly good.
