I'm kind of getting impression that the Vampire dungeon is meant for level 75-80 teams, not 65 like I'm rolling
The dungeon enemies are far more difficult than the boss of it, as I'm sure you're now aware of. It's probably the most common place people turn off random encounters for in this thread.
Didn't think about that, but I just had one of it's escorts smack it after charming it.
Now I'm trying in vain to find a rukh, which aparently has not yet spawned for me, and seemingly doesn't exist.
If you've been googling genome lists like I was, then a lot of them are annoyingly missing some info. Some enemies like Rukh's don't show up until ch.5.

Yeah, I learned that afterwards, after looking at like the ONE list that did say that.
Ok, if anybody else is like me, likely this game has not only not left your 3DS, but probably has never even been shut off and just kept in sleep mode.
Just check back to the title screen every so often.
Ch.6 spoilers:
After the conversation regarding the pattern on Airy's wing's changing, I just had to on a lark quickly start up a new game on another slot to check. Can't say I notice a number pattern, but it is different.
And then when jumping back to the original save file...
Spooky...

So in my quest to turn Edea into the naked god of punching high 6 digit sent attacks I have cleared out Norende of Nemesis.
now begins the long wait for more to be sent my way
Oh wow, are the Nemesi one shot fights? What if I have them protected?

Protecting a nemesis just prevents it from timing out, usually they have a set duration that they will hang out in your Norende.
Sad thing is, by the time you can kill the town optionals to earn buns you probably don't need them anyway. Like that ultimate bun: if you can get one, then you don't need one because you're badass enough already to steamroll the game.

At that point it's not even about making your dudes strong enough to fight enemies, though. It's about having the biggest damage attack to send to your friends :P.

You can reach the cap without buns. I'd say the only reason to need buns is to upload attacks with inferior setups/weapon types. For example: I want to see someone reach 999,999 with a bow.

Is 999,999 the Bravely Second cap? I could've sworn I've seen attacks over 1,000,000.

Nah, checking the attacks in my friend's list again I was wrong, the highest one I've seen is about 600,000.

I finished a boss once in two hits, two uncapped specials.
I remember reading that streetpassed Nemeses can be refought at will. Too bad I can only spotpass.
Not true. I streetpass my sister's Mammon every few days, and it goes away after I fight it. Spotpassing is essentially the exact same thing as streetpassing in this game.
Didn't think about that, but I just had one of it's escorts smack it after charming it.

Yeah, I learned that afterwards, after looking at like the ONE list that did say that.
Sailor Nemesis's walkthrough at GFAQs seems to be the most reliable for anything and everything. For example, he does have the correct ch. 4 genome list, and even tells you when you should be done with all genomes if you've been doing everything correctly.
He's even got a list of every cutscene and every party chat, and the brief requirements for seeing them. That takes like 3 new game+ playthroughs of the game.
That the game was going along so beautifully I feel makes it all the more tragic on just how fucking stupid they've chosen to be with this shit.
I really do want to finish this game to the end. But for the short term, the desire to keep playing has shrunk significantly. I guess it's as good a time as any to tackle Lightning Returns in the meantime.

Yeah my sole gripe with the game is chapters 5-8. They definitely could have played with that more.

as hammy as the execution was of the story, the fact that the last boss is looking at you every time you open your inventory menu is actually kind of creepy
Yeah my sole gripe with the game is chapters 5-8. They definitely could have played with that more.
I'm about to enter Ch. 4's last dungeon so this does not bode well. By the way, what's the deal with Spiritmasters that make them so great? Save WM MP?

Enigma on all bosses that use elemental attacks - total elemental immunity that lasts exactly as many turns as it takes to recharge so you can use it again and have it up all the time. Spirit Ward on all bosses that use status effects for a similar effect. Good as white casters and conserve MP. That's generally the main stuff.

ch5-8 (or what ive seen of them) has been alright imo
I think it's generally good for people to know what to expect in the late game, it helps you mentally prepare yourself. It really doesn't bother me, but I think I would've been frustrated if I didn't know ahead of time.
Spoilers if you want to know. It's kind of plot spoilers, but I don't think it's too big a deal because you don't know the how or why of it. Look at your own risk.
Basically it's Groundhog Day on the whole game, 3 times over.
chapters 5 and 8(?) were the best of the later chapters.
5 is just a (mostly optional) boss rush that gives you some more perspective on the bosses. doing the boss rush once was interesting, doing it 4 times, less so.
by 8 they have basically given up on trying to have the plot make any sense and they just throw interesting/difficult optional boss fights at you
Sorry friends! That Edea Hack n Slash failed to upload I guess. Now you're stuck with a weak 1,000 damage Agnes piercing bolt. Better than a 71 damage love tap from Tiz, though!
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

I'm not there yet but I heard 7 is good stuff too.
Supposedly you get a lot more back story on the bosses and that's also the chapter where you can steal all kinds of goodies.
"Random encounter with two Cerberi" is proving to be the most challenging battle in the game by far. Vampire Mansion is the worst place on Earth.
Maybe I could, like...
Make the whole party Valkyries with Two-Handed/Confuse Immunity/Default Guard/Slow Parry, wearing fire resistance, with Sword Magic as a secondary, and then default into Drain Sword > High Jump?
After several revisions, I refined this idea into something which resulted in an approximation of success.
Three Valkyries, all with Two-Handed/Default Guard/Abate Wind/Confusion Immunity and wearing Rebuff Lockets (you should have three if you stole them all). Sword Magic on at least one or two of them, but there's some flexibility there (Hunting for aerial slaying is an option). Last slot is a Performer/Salvemaker with Hermes Shoes (whose skills matter substantially less since it's a suicide role). Other classes can work for the support, but most of them are too slow, and speed is critical.
Every fight, the Valkyries all default immediately and continue doing so as long as possible. The support immediately braves to -4 and does two Love Rushes for maximum speed and then whatever combination of other buffs are most useful for a given encounter (usually two defense or a defense and an attack for me, although BP ups might have been good too).
The idea is that 25% defaults guarantee that you don't die in the first two turns and the Performer guarantees that the Valkyries act first when they stop defending. Crescent Slash doesn't provoke counters if there's more than one enemy alive and High Jump lets you power through the last bit of Cerberus HP. If you don't have enough BP to High Jump effectively, Blizzaga on your spear makes the Crescent Slashes a lot stronger. Mix Quarter Elixirs for MP restoration (hi-potion plus ether). Mixing Resurrections can sometimes salvage a bad roll...otherwise you can experiment with other classes to utilize your two negotiable turns.
It's messy, and there will be casualties--especially against big Cerberus groups which won't always go down clean to High Jumps--but you can win battles pretty consistently...if the enemy doesn't get a brave attack or first strike. With seven floors to get through, Autosave will spare you a lot of grief.

if you use life or death + bp recovery you should always put the life or death first to avoid crashes

Chapter 2 Summoner side quest:
OK, what the flying fuck? Children murdering each other? Seriosly, what the fuck? That came out of nowhere. I didn't know we were down the grimdark path here. I kept thinking "oh of course the children will be ok, this isn't one of those kinds of games/stories. I guess I was wrong.

Chapter 2 is particularly bad. It dials back closer to chapter 1's evil after that though.

Also when I was doing Update Data the game got an error while "Net-Inviting friends" and when I went to try again, it told me I had already invited friends today, despite not getting any friends. Game is really trying to spite me.

All buns give a random boost when used, one of 3 possibilities.
